4.1第一學時
4.1.1教學活動
活動1【導入】導入 新詞匯
Step1. Lead in new words
 Show an interview of Fu Yuanhui, and ask them questions.
T: What are they doing?        
S: They are making an interview.
T: Do you know who she is?      
S: She is Fu Yuanhui,a famous swimming player.
T :Do you like her? Why?     
S: She is humorous, and she dared to show her in front of the crowds.
T: Is it easy to become an excellent swimmer?  
S: No, it requires a lot of hard work and talent.
T: While we are making an interview is it polite to ask any private questions?
S: No, we can’t.
T: What can you learn from her?  
S: Hard-working, Outgoing, Hold on to her dream…
 
Design Ideas:
 Through the photo of Fu Yuanhui to talk about interview and her personality. It not only lead in new words we have to learn but also tell them to learn from the outgoing girl to be optimistic and stick to their dreams.
 
活動2【導入】導入新知
Step 2.Lead-in
1. Show them pictures of two students in our class and ask students the differences they had in 2 years, and then ask them to make sentences with “used to”
S1: They used to be short, but now they are tall.
S2: He used to be heavy, but now he is thin.
S3: He used to be really shy, but now we can’t see any shyness from him.
2. Ask them to talk about their own changes.
 
Design Ideas:
Through the photos of their own classmates to lead them to talk about what they used to be like to train them “used to” structure.
活動3【講授】3a 教授
Step 3.3a
1. Task 1 Warm-up and revision
Ask students to look at the photo and the title of the story on page 27. Then answer the questions below.
 ★What was the girl like in the past?
 ★What do you think the reading passage is about?
 ★What kind of music does she like?
 
2. Task 2  Skimming
Read the article and identify the paragraphs in which the following information appears. Number the information(1-3).
______ how Candy’s life has changed
______ Candy’s advice to young people
______ Candy’s background
 
3. Task 3  Paragraph 1
First,  Read Paragraph 1 and fill in the blanks
 In the past                really  shy
Now           not shy anymore and loves singing in front of crowds
 
Then, Ask students to discuss “How did this happen?”
 
4. Task4 Paragraph 2
Read the second paragraph and fill in the blanks.
  Candy’s life was quite different after she became famous. She didn’t ________ popular in school, but now she ______. At present, she has to be______what she does or says. And she doesn’t have much _______anymore.  
 
5. Task 5  Paragraph 3
Read the last paragraph and answer following questions.
★According to Candy, what are difficulties on the road to be a successful pop star?
★After reading Candy’s story, what do you learn from her?
★Do you think it’s easy to be successful?  
★What should you do when you face difficulties?
 
6. Task 6 Study Reading
Read the whole article again and complete the sentences about Candy.
★She used to be shy, but now she’s not shy __________.
★She didn’t used to be ____ in school, but now she gets lots of attention.
★She used to _________ with friends, but now it is almost impossible.
★She didn’t use to ______ how she appears to others, but now she does.
 
7. Task 7 Interview
Suppose you’re the interviewer and your partner is Candy. Ask and answer questions.
Some possible questions:
Hi, Candy. It’s a great pleasure to interview you.
You used to be shy, didn’t you?
What’s the differences after you become famous?
Is it difficult for you to be a pop star?
What’s your advice for young students
 
 
Design Ideas:
 
In order to make them have a full understanding of the whole passge, I designed 7 tasks from scanning to skimming and study reading. Scanning helps students get the main idea of the passage; Skimming makes them find the key information and study reading let them know the details of the 3 paragraphs. Training students to seize the key points of the article. Also the interview practice is a good way to train their speaking English, lead them to make what they learned into their own.
活動4【活動】情感教育
Step 4 Moral Education
Show  photos of them when they were in grade 7, ask them if they remember what they used to be like, if they remember their original dreams when were in grade 7, if they will give up their dreams because of the difficulties they might meet on the road to succes.
 
Design Ideas:
 In order to consolidate the target language and encourage them to learn from Candy Wang to fight on for their dreams, nomatter how difficult the road to success is, beacuse we are together!
