一、教學目標:
1.通過觀察圖片,比較人物變化,能用used to口頭描述圖片。
2.通過活動漢譯英、短語互譯、連詞成句和口頭說Emily的變化,能使用含有used to的不同句式來表達句意。
3.通過Story Time、Groupwork及照片分享,讓學生明白事物是在不斷發展、變化的道理,培養學生積極向上的心態。同時能在書面表達中使用used to描述人物變化,懂得珍惜、學會感恩。
二、教學重難點 1. 教學重點:
1) 復習鞏固used to的用法,達到熟練運用的目標。 2) 總結 used to 的不同句型。 2. 教學難點:
1) 學習運用表達過去常常做的事情或狀態的句型。 2) 正確使用used to。 三、教學過程 Ⅰ. Warming up
1. Show some pictures and describe the person in the picture using “used to”. Let some Ss say something about Yang Zi ,Xu Jiao and the teacher’s son. ① Yang Zi used to be short.She used to be a little heavy.She used to have long hair But now she is tall and thin, she has short hair.
② Xu Jiao used to be short and thin. She used to look like a boy. But now she is tall and beautiful, she has long hair. (They used to be students, but now they are famous actors.) ③Teacher’s son. He is tall and strong,and he is heavy now.
But before, he used to be short and thin.He used to wear a hat and a scarf. 2.Ask and answer
①Did he use to be short/heavy? Yes,he did./No,he didn’t.
Did he use to wear a hat/scarf/glasses? Yes,he did./No,he didn’t. ②Yang Zi used to have long hair, didn’t she? Yes,she did. Xu Jiao didn’t use to have long hair,did she? No,she didn’t. (反意疑問句,根據事實作答。) Ⅱ.Try to fill in the blanks(Grammar Focus) ① 我以前是矮個子。 I ______ ____ be short.

(一)Try to find the language points in Page28.

(二)Let students find and read the language points one by one, correct the pronunciation, then read them together.

Ask the students say the language points follow the phrases in Chinese. IV. Practice連詞成句。
1. Work on 4a. Write sentences about the past using used to.
For example, Grace/watch a lot of TV/watch a lot of movies(used to的肯定句+否定句)

1) my mom/have curly hair/have straight hair
2) Jerry/read books on European history/ read books on African culture 3) Sandy /teach British English / teach American English
4) Emily /be afraid of flying / be afraid of taking the train(補充,練習be afraid of) Check the sentences.
1)My mom used to have curly hair. She didn’t use to have straight hair.
2)Jerry used to read books on European history. She didn’t use to read books on African culture. 3)Sandy used to teach British English. She didn’t use to teach American English. 4) Emily used to be afraid of flying. Emily didn’t use to be afraid of taking the train.
2. Work on 4b. Tell Ss to read the chart in 4a and try to write sentences about Emily with information. (老師給出示例和解釋,學生一起說出關于Emily 5年前和現在的句子,課下寫在練習本上。)

V. Story Time
1. Show the photos of the teacher’s.
(老師簡短介紹有關每張照片的內容,使用used to,學生觀看) 2.Show and listen to the story about the teacher. I have changed a lot these years.
I used to be very thin. When I worked in school, I used to like playing with my students. On weekends, I used to travel or go shopping with my friends. When I was at home, I used to like listening to music alone. It was enjoyable. By the way, I used to be afraid of high places.
But now I am a little heavy. In school, I am always busy with my work, I don’t have time to play with my students any more. After working, I have to help my son do his homework.I seldom spend much time with my parents, because I have lots of housework to do on weekends. Altough I am still afraid of high places, I want to travel one day.
3.Groupwork.
1)Prepare your story in your group with your photos.5分鐘準備時間,寫出自己的故事。 2)Share your story in front of the students.找出三、四個學生分享自己的故事。 VI. Relaxed moment

1.Make a survey to find out what your partner and you used to be afraid of.(仿照4c) 2.Do you ever find your mother or your father has changed a lot? Try to find some changes make sentences with “used to”.
