Language goals:
1. master all the words and expressions of this unit. 2. master the structure of the sentence
“Sb used to + v, Sb didn’t use to + v, Did sb use to + v?”
Ability goals:
Ss can learn to use “Sb used to + v,present tense and future tense” to describe the changes of a person and how to change better.
Emotional attitudes and Values :
Ss should know no change no progress and try their best to be better .
Process and Methods:
Step I:
Warming Up:
1.show the two photos of the star Peng Yuyan,lead to“used to +V”and show another two photos of the teacher,ask Ss to guess who she is. one is about the past and the other one is about the present. Lead the students into using “Sb used to + v, Sb + is/ does,I +am/do…”.
2. Complete the statements when Ss were in the primary school on Page 32.and ask some students to show their information in class.
Step II:
Activities:
1. show some photos of the students in the past, and ask Ss todiscuss and describe who has the biggest change in class, ask the other students to guess who he/she is, they can use the given words and expressions .
2. show a vedio about a group of people keep exercise to change better , and ask the Ss discuss and answer the following questions: Why do they want to change?How do they make it? What is their biggest change?
3.Ask Ss to think about their biggest change and how it hppened.Ask several students about that.Using “Are you satisfied with your change?” makes them think of how they are going to change better .
Step III:
1. ask the Ss to write an article “How I’ve changed”, using the mind map to make Ss how to write the article.
Paragraph 1: decscribe the changes of themselves,using “I used to, I didn’t
use to, now I am/+ V …
paragraph 2: the biggest change and how it happened Paragraph 3: how to change better.
2. ask one student of each group to read their articles to all the students. 3. the teacher does a simple summary encouraging them to work harder to change better with a photo of Huawei mate X.
