1 BACKGROUND INFORMATION課程介紹

Teaching Point 教學要點 The students practise speaking skill and apply what they have learnt in unit 5 into practice.

The students can apply what they learnt about ads into practice, including words and expressions, ideas of ads.

There are 49 students in the class. They are poor in speaking and need more practice. They do not know how to apply what they learn in the lesson into practice, especially into writing.
Anticipated problems 預測的問題 All the tasks are designed in new activity forms, so students may have problems in carrying out the instructions. Task 3 is challenging, so students may not finish it as expected.
Proposed solutions 問題解決的方案 Apply some pictures to instructions so that the students can have a better idea of the new activity forms.
More time and guides are needed for the students in Task 3. Teaching Context 教材分享
Students have learnt the reading passages How Advertising Works and Keeping Advertisers Honest in the last two lessons and have been exposed to some ads. They need the chance to review the
words and expressions and to apply what they learnt about ads into practice.

The song Never Meet A Girl Like You Before, some key sentences from the reading passages, a students’ worksheet designed for this lesson
2.教學過程
回顧:通過上一節課學習,學生對廣告的特征有了初步的了解,并通過一些非常著名的廣告,得出一個結論,好的廣告需要恰當的歌曲。而家庭作業就是,老師提供一首曲子 A Girl Like You給學生,6人小組,根據歌曲的內容和風格等,以這首曲子為背景,設計一則廣告。內容在學生學案上:
Product:___________________________ Target (Customers): ________________ Slogan :___________________________ Media: On the television
How to advertise it and why:______________________________
課前,給這6個同學重新命名:學生A: Attentive; 學生B: Brilliant;學生C:Clever;學生D:Diligent;學生E:Excellent;學生F:Fabulous。然后讓學生帶著自己組的作業,按名字重新組成小組,Attentive為一組,Brilliant為一組,Clever為一組; Diligent 為一組;Excellent 為一組; Fabulous為一組。重新組成小組后,大家互相分享原來自己的廣告設計。然后小組內選出最有佳創意廣告,在全班面前分享,然后全班投票選擇最好一個廣告
設計。
Step 2:頭腦風暴游戲
本環節,通過小組成員的頭腦風暴,復習跟本單元廣告相關的5個話題下的詞匯、短語、句型。要求:
1. 6 students in a group sit in a circle.
2. Take turns to say something on the topics. 3. Write down the information in the handout 頭腦風暴的問題:
1. Where do you see or hear advertisements?
復習的內容:TV, Radio, shopping center, the Internet, bus, car, public places,… 2. What makes a good advertisement? 復習的內容:

Advertising organization--- to make rules for advertisers to follow The government organization---to examines the complaints about ads Buyer beware! (學生用書 48-49) Step 3 利益復習的內容,進行寫作指導:
首先引領學生根據5個問題,建構文章框架: 一、開篇部分:
1. Where do you see or hear advertisements? 2. 2. What makes a good advertisement? 二、主體部分:
3. The advantages of advertisements 4. The disadvantages of advertisements 三、建議和結束部分
5. The ways to protect our benefit in the world of advertisements
接著讓學生回憶每部分可以從本單元學到的句型詞匯 如(SB指的是學生課本): 開篇:1.Advertisements have become part of our daily life. (SB P45)
2. We are exposed to hundreds of different advertisements every day..( SB P46) 3. We are flooded with advertisements in our modern world. (SB P49)
主體:There is much debate, however,about whether ads are beneficial in our daily lives. Some…while others….
On the one hand,… On the other hand… For one thing…for another…
結束:Fortunately, most counties have developed ways to control advertising and prevent false or unsuitable advertising. ( SB 48) Step4學生寫作
給學生約5-8分鐘時間,在學案上寫下改文章。 Step5自我檢查和互相修改
通過以下5個問題,讓學生首先對自己的作文進行自我修改,然后與同伴交換,進行修改并分享。
1. Have we applied what we learnt in Unit 5 to the report? 2. Have we used the correct tense? 3. Have we used the proper linking words? 4. Have we covered all the contents required? 5. Do we clearly express our ideas? Step 6 家庭作業
