活動1【導入】Approaching the grammar
Have a free talk about what future work the students would like to do.

活動2【導入】Discovering the grammar
Ask the students to read and observe the sentences in the previous picture and find out the similar structure.
活動3【講授】Defining the grammar (form & meaning)
1. Underline the infinitive in the text (P32).
1). Scientists have tried many ways to solve this problem in China, a mass campaign has been started to help solve it.
2). The wind is sometimes strong enough to move sand dunes.
3). To have been caught in a sandstorm was a terrible experience.
4). There was nothing to be done.
5). I thought I was going to disappear under the sand.
6). Sandstorms in China appear to have increased in recent years as a result of desertification.
7). The thick dust makes it difficult to see.
8). Weather experts advise people not to go out.
9). To be cycling in a sandstorm is frightening.
10). It’s difficult to breathe.
11). If you want to go out, you’d better wear a mask.
12). To prevent it coming nearer, the government is planting trees.
13). The government plans to continue planting for the next five years.

3. Usage (用法)
Read the sentences and analyze the constituents (成分) of the infinitive in each sentence.
1) My dream is to be admitted to Shenzhen University.
2) To make my dream come true is not easy.
3) In order to make my dream come true, I should study very hard.
4) I have two years to make my dream come true.
5) I want to be an English teacher.
6) My English teacher always encourages me to face challenges bravely.

1. Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs given.

Our school is holding an activity called “Green school”. “Green school” does not only mean green environment, but also mean positive study atmosphere. Discuss in groups about the purpose and importance of the activity and think of at least three things we need to do to improve our environment.
