Teaching Objectives 1. Knowledge objective: To learn the grammar of the infinitive. Make
sure the Ss know its functions and meanings, tense and voice. 2. Ability objective: To let the Ss use the infinitive to make sentences and write notes or passages.
3. Moral objective: To teach Ss to use English properly and politely, and give others suggestions with the infinitive.

Teaching Procedure: Activity One:
Free talk: Neha and Donna have being teaching in our school for almost one year, but do you know what they prepared for teaching? Before coming to China:
Neha: My job is to help the Ss improve English. I want to experience more! My parents ask me to learn Chinese before going to China. Donna: To teach in China makes me excited. I need find some ways to teach.
I must learn Chinese culture to avoid mistakes. T: Have you paid attention to the underlined words? Sentence 1: “to + do” serves as a predicative Sentence 2: “to +do” serves as an object
Sentence 3: “to +do” serves as an object complement Sentence 4: “to +do” serves as a subject Sentence 5: “to +do” serves as an attributive Sentence 6: “to +do” serves as a adverbial
Activity Two: Discover and Summarize
1. Function and meaning of the infinitive look at the six sentences and tell us what “to +do” serves in each sentence.

Look at the pictures and sentences to summarize the notes of the infinitive To see is to believe.

Note 1: 1、單個(gè)不定式作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)。
2、若不定式太長(zhǎng),往往用it作形式主語,不定式置后。 I want to join in students’ activity.

Note 2: 常用動(dòng)詞不定式作賓語動(dòng)詞有want, demand, hope refuse, learn, set out, choose, decide, agree, manage, pretend, plan, etc.

1. help 后面的“to”可省去。
2. see, hear, watch, feel, notice, look at等表示感覺和let, make, have等使役動(dòng)詞后面,不定式作賓語時(shí)要省略“to”(注:被動(dòng)語態(tài)不省略to) I make the student speak English outside class. The students are made to speak English outside class. I found a wonderful hotel to live in when visiting in Beijing. There is nothing to worry about when travelling alone in China.
Note 5: 不定式作主語時(shí)不定式如果是不及物動(dòng)詞或者所修飾名詞是動(dòng)詞不定式地點(diǎn)、工具須有相應(yīng)的介詞。

Task 1: Fill in the chart according to the sentences.

Talk about the relationship between “to do” and the “subject” in a sentence. 1. The pretended no to see us.
動(dòng)詞不定式的一般式to do所表示的動(dòng)作通常與謂語動(dòng)詞所表示的動(dòng)詞同時(shí)發(fā)生。 2. He pretended to be sleeping.
動(dòng)詞不定式的進(jìn)行式to be doing表示不定式的動(dòng)作與謂語動(dòng)詞所表示的動(dòng)作同時(shí)發(fā)
生。

動(dòng)詞不定式的完成式(to have done) 表示不定式的動(dòng)作發(fā)生在謂語動(dòng)詞所表示的動(dòng)作之前。 Activity Five:
Checking work1: Fill in the blanks in English using the “to do” form. 1. They are easy to get along with. 2. Neha asked us not to be so shy in class.
3. Donna was so excited to have birthday party with Chinese friends. 4. They seem to have made a lot of friends in China. 5. To take a wonderful picture, she made a funny posture.
Checking Work2: Let’s compete! (Boys compete with girls by answering questions). Enjoy a video about Donna and Neha to know what they think of teaching in China. Checking work 3: Group work
This year another two foreign teachers are coming to our school in September. Please write a note to the now foreign teachers with some valuable suggestions for teaching in China. (About 50 words)
Work in Groups of four like this: Two: Mainly work out the content. One: Write down the words. One: do the presentation.
