文化意識目標:通過對西方經典戲劇的學習和鑒賞,激發學生對英語的深入學習。
情感態度目標:1、在英語學習中有較強的自信心,敢于用英語進行交流和表達。
2、在學習中有較強的合作精神,愿意與他人分享、共同創作。 3、了解并尊重異國文化。 學習策略目標:注重認知、調控和交際策略的運用。
教材分析
本單元以皮格馬利翁為話題,通過學習,使學生了解具有共同主題的希臘神話Pygmalion與蕭伯納戲劇之間在表現形式、人物塑造等方面的相同與不同之處;并能在此基礎上,討論人物特征和表演部分戲劇場景;能模仿劇本編寫一個戲劇場景,并加以表演展示。
學情 分析
學生英語程度較好,教學設計可略高于學生的現有水平,為學生的進一步提升提供機 會。但是環節的設置應由淺入深,從學生熟悉的內容入手,抓住學生心理,激發學習興趣, 讓他們在活動參與中學習、產出目標語言。 教學目標 1. To have the students learn the literary genre, drama. 2. To enable the students to write a short script. 3. To have the students do a role play.
教學重點難點 1. To write a play script with the correct structure. 2. To do a role play of an original short play.

Pre-class play the song “Wouldn’t it be loverly?” from the musical “My fair lady” as the background music.

Introduce the learning aims of this period. 【To make the aims of this period clear】
Ⅱ Revision
Get the students to discuss the characteristics of three main characters, using 5 to 6 adjectives. Ask some individuals to share their words.

【To recall the play and also a way of checking the students’ memory of the key words in this unit .】
Ⅲ Dubbing
Get one or two groups of the students to show their dubbing.
【To offer the students a chance to show themselves to set an example for the others. Also a good way to check their previous assignment.】
Ⅳ Learning of the structure of a script
1. Ask the students to go through the script on page 34 & 35 and find out what features in
structure makes it differ from a narrative story. 2. Analyse the structure of a play script.
【To enable the students to learn a new literary genre and its features.】
Ⅴ Writing a script
1. Offer the students the following situations, and get them to write a short script about Eliza’s coming life.
A. to go to a party for the upper class on her own. B. to apply for a job as a flower shop assistant. C. to go back to her gutter.
To ensure the students’ creativity, a free writing style is provided. (Emphasize the importance of a narrator.)
2. Show their work to the whole class to see if it is written down in correct structure. 【To get the students to practise writing of the new literary genre.】
Ⅵ Role play
Get some groups to show script, paying more attention to their language skills. It’s better to make sure every group can have the chance to show themselves. If not, the left groups will have their turns next period.
【To check the students’ output and build up their self-confidence in learning English.】 Ⅶ Critical thinking
Get the students to think about the following two questions which are the summary of this unit.
1. What is Pygmalion effect?
2. Has it ever happened to you? Tell us about it.
