一、 文本解讀
模塊9雖然是選修內容,但是話題涉及人文、地理、歷史等各個方面,具有跨學科的性質,其中滲透著社會科學和自然科學,如航海技術、植物探究和商業廣告宣傳等教學內容。本單元的中心話題是“航海、發現探索未知的大陸”,內容涉及海洋航行、人類早起航海技術、歷史上著名的航海家冒險航行等。 主題:偉大的英國航海家James Cook (Captain Cook)
主要內容:講述了James Cook 不僅是一位關心船員健康的船長還是一位偉大的航海家和太平洋探險行動的領導者。他不僅對船員日常飲食進行強制改革,而且領導了歷史上三次意義深遠的航海探索,發現了未知的新大陸-新西蘭,并繪制的航線,為后人航海探索奠定了基礎。 二、教學目標
1. 學會根據上下文或構詞法感知文章中的生詞意義,并對已知單詞進行簡單的英文解釋。如chart、 dietary、dispute等
2.了解文章結構、內容、文體等,學會提取文中重要句子及信息。
3. 探索挖掘文章隱含的文化知識,與所學知識相聯系。了解航海家定義、航海技術、世界有名航海家及航海探索活動(遇到的困難和歷史意義)。
4.了解一位偉大航海家應具有什么樣的品質及預測未來探索領域,學習和弘揚航海家的勇于探索未知世界的精神和不懼困難的堅韌意志。 三、教學步驟
Step 1 Lead-in (2minutes) Show a picture of James Cook Q: Who is he ?
Introduce James Cook briefly through a short video.
Q: Where does James Cook come from and what is he? (James Cook comes from England and he is a navigator, captain and explorer.)
設計意圖: 通過視頻和圖片介紹文章主要人物,形象生動,能引起學生學習興趣,從而對文章進行探索。 Step 2 Reading (3 minutes)
Read the passage and try to find out its topic ,content and style.
