Analysis of the teaching material
This is a listening and talking about California. It introduces the history of California and describes the great scenes and different peoples as well as some movies based on the history. It also tells us when, how and why different people from all over the world have been immigrating to California . It explains to us the reasons why it will be a simple multicultural community in the 21st century. The passage helps to develop Ss’ culture awareness and cross-culture communicative skills. 1. Ask the students to listen the detailed parts and answer the questions. 2. Ask the students to draw some lines on the map. 3. Ask the students to answer questions.

1. Make a summary of the different topics. 2. Write a passage about Xiaogan.
