1) 學習掌握下列詞匯：
achievement, southwestern, thick, include, freezing, condition, take in, succeed, challenge, in the face of, achieve, force, nature, even though 2）學習掌握下列句子：
The spirit of these climbers show us that we should never give up trying to achieve our dreams.
It also shows that humans can sometimes be stronger than the forces nature. 3）閱讀短文，能按要求找到相應的信息。 4）通過閱讀提高學生們的閱讀能力。
5）了解在如果生活中發生了一些不盡如人意的問題，應當如何面對理性地去解決。 情感教學目標:
人的一生并不都是一帆風順的，難免有一些挫折的困難，如果生活中發生了一些不盡如人意的問題，我們學會冷靜對待，學會合理的辦法去理性地去解決。 教學重點：
1) 掌握本部分出現的生詞和詞組，達到熟練運用的目標。
2) 閱讀短文，獲得相關的信息。通過閱讀練習，來提高閱讀能力。 教學難點：
1) 閱讀短文，獲得相關的信息的能力。 2) 理解并運用所學的詞匯及表達方式。
自研課學習本課單詞和短語，并熟讀課文。
學習過程：
一．快樂起航:
1.回答下列問題： Do you like sports?
What sports do you like ?
Which of the following sports do you think is the most dangerous? 2. 看關于珠穆朗瑪峰的視頻，回答下列問題：
1）What’s the meaning of “Qomolangma” in Tibet?
2）Is the life easy there?
3）What might be the dangers of mountain climbing?
二．自主研讀：
學習任務一：完成3a (學法一）

學法四： 難點解疑：
1. “one of + the + 形容詞的最高級 + 復數名詞”，意為“最„„之一”。
2.take in 吸入；容 納
3.give up 意為“放 棄”，后面可以接 名詞、代詞或 v-ing形式作賓 語。
4.even though 用作 從屬連詞，意為“即使；盡管”，相 當于even if，引 導讓步狀語從 句，一般不與并連 詞but連用。
5.in the face of 面 對（困難、問題等）
