Unit 4 How do you go to school ？ 
 
Ⅰ.Teaching Aims and Demands： 
1. Learn some new kinds of transportation:  
motorbike  electric bike  subway  train  
2. Learn to talk about how to get to different places, how long it 
takes to go to different places  
Ⅱ. Teaching Procedure: 
Step1  Warm up and lead in  
Show them a flash and answer the following two questions: 1. How many kinds of transportation can you find in the flash? 2. What are they? 
Step2  Presentation 
1.Play a guessing game and learn some new kinds of transportation: 
motorbike   electric bike   subway    train      2.Summarize other ways of transportation by the students and learn to use the phrases: take a/the bus, train ,subway… 
    ride a/the bike,motorbike… 
3.Show two pictures about the teacher and teach them how to talk about how to get to different places, how long it takes. 
A: How do you get to the zoo/the shop …? B: I take…/ride…/walk to... 
 
                    
             
                    
                             
A: How  long  does  it  take ? B: It  takes  me  about …. 
4. Show different pictures and let the students show their different opinions about different ways to different places and how long it takes. 
A: How  does  he  go  to  Shanghai? B: He  takes  the  plane  to  Shanghai A: How  long  does  it  take? B: I  think  it  takes  him  2 hours. 
Step3  Consolidation   
1. Do a groupwork and talk about how the students get to different places and how long it takes. 
A: How do you get to the zoo/the shop …? B: I take…/ride…/walk to... A: How long does it take ? B:  It takes me about …. 
2 .Do a pairwork and talk about how two foreigners get to Beijing /the park /the bookshop and how long it takes.         A: How does he/she go to…?

3.Listen to 1b and find out how the students get to school.                Step 4   Practice     
Show a travel plan about a girl .make dialogues or retell a story about her different ways to different places and the time it takes. • A: How does she go to the zoo? • B: She takes the bus to the zoo. • A: How long does it take? • B: It  takes her 20 minutes. 
Step 5   Project 
 
Task1  Make a survey and talk about the students’ holidays with their classmates in small groups             What do you usually do? 
How do you get there? 
            How long does it take? 
Why do you go there? 
Task 2   Write a composition according to the survey. Task3   Report the composition in class.                Step 6   Homework Suppose your pen friend is coming to Shangqiu. Please introduce the city and write a travel plan .
