Part B Little duck’s shadow
Step1. Warm up
1.Greetings. Teacher and the students greet each other.
2. T: Chizhou is a beautiful city, it’s more and more beautiful than before. The city is getting bigger and bigger. The buildings are getting taller and taller. (Present the sentences to review.) Step2. Preview
Show a picture to present the word “ shadow”. Make Ss say the characters of shadow. Make Ss guess whose shadow is it, then, introduce the little duck, main character. Step3. Presentation
1. Enable Ss to read for the first time, find out the main characters of this story, and whose shadow is it.
2. Expound what time it is, then, find out the clue. ( watching the sun go down)
3. What is the little duck’s question? How does the old tree answer? Then, read for the second time, ask Ss to imitate the little duck’s and the old tree’s voice, praise the ones read best.
4. Whom will you ask to when you have question? Why? (older and smarter) Why the shadow getting longer and longer when the sun getting lower? (Expound the reason, because of the sun angle.)
5. Read for the last time, think over why the old tree answer like that. (Because he has a beautiful wish for the little duck.)
6. Present some pictures of a few boys and girls, make them fill in the blanks. I’m getting ...and... Because I...
7. Make Ss write their own sentences, then, practice in class. Step4. Conclusion and homework 1. It’s getting … and …, because … 2. Homework
Write down the changes of your own and the reasons with the sentences “ I’m getting … and… , because …” Then, discuss in next class.
