教學目標
Teaching aims: 1. Get students to learn more about the variants and brief development of English.
2. Train and improve students’ reading abilities, such as: skim the passage quickly to find the main idea of each paragraph; scan the passage carefully to find some detailed information.
3. Get students to know the importance of learning English and inspire their love for our mother country---China
2學情分析
本節課是節選自普通高中課程標準實驗教材必修一第二單元的內容。主要講的是英語的種類及英語發展的問題。通過本節課的warming-up環節,讓學生感受英語語言的多文化,多元性。通過reading環節,簡要說明了英語語言的起源,發展與變化形成原因以及它的發展趨勢。Discussion環節激發學生深層次的思考,進一步認識到語言的發展體現了國家文化的影響力,祖國的強大必然會帶給漢語更強大的影響力及生命力。從而使學生認識到現階段努力學好英語的必要性。學生剛剛升入高一年級,對于全英語教學還不太適應,對于閱讀技巧的掌握還比較生疏。
3重點難點
1. 培養學生的閱讀微技能,例如通過題目猜測文章大意,通過快讀找到每段的大意,通過細讀尋找細節信息的能力。
2. 培養學生的深層次思考能力,例如由課文文本出發對社會問題進行發散性思考的能力。

活動1【導入】Unit 2 English around the world
Warming-up:
Greetings
老師提出兩個簡單問題,引發學生興趣。
“How long have you learned English?”
“How many different kinds of English do you know?’”
老師在電腦上播放兩段音頻,讓學生判斷
Which one is American English, which one is British English?
學生與同桌交流互動,談論英語和美語之間的主要不同。
然后老師在電腦PPT上展示。
“As we all know, there are more than two kinds of Englishes in the world,
Please look at the map of the world and find the related countries.”
學生了解到相關信息之后,老師提出兩個問題,讓學生在不看課文的基礎上進行同桌討論。“Can you guess how do they come about? Why has English changed over time?”
活動2【講授】Unit 2 English around the world
Reading:
教師在黑板上板書 The Road to Modern English。啟發學生通過題目猜測本篇文章的主旨大意。
Main idea: The brief history of English language
Skimming:
給學生3分鐘時間快速閱讀瀏覽整篇文章,并且找到每一段的大意。訓練學生通過快速閱讀掌握段落大意的能力。

Para 1------B. wide use of English
Para 5------C. English is a language spoken all around the world
Para 3------D. why English has changed over time
Para 4------E. English was settled
Scanning:
要求學生進一步閱讀篇章, 查找細節信息,完成P10 Exercise1 和Exercise2。
Exercise1為判斷正誤,要求學生在判斷正誤的同時,通過細讀文章找出判斷依據。

通過猜測文章主旨大意和總結每一段的主旨訓練了學生skimming能力。通過判斷正誤和細節信息填空訓練了學生scanning 能力。這也是本節閱讀課的重點和難點。

完成以上閱讀訓練之后,再次引導學生回顧整篇文章,完成summary。

活動3【活動】Unit 2 English around the world
Discussion:
老師提出兩個問題引發學生進一步的思考:
1. Why do you think people all over the world want to learn English?
2. Will Chinese become the most popular language in the world instead of
English in the future?
在閱讀技能訓練結束之后,本節課通過六人一組的小組討論激發學生的發散思維及批判性思考能力。讓學生意識到學英語的必要性及重要性,激發學生的語言學習動機。由英語的發展遷移到漢語的發展,培養學生的跨文化意識,激發學生的愛國熱情。
