Ask students 2 questions: 
1. Have you ever sent a gift to your friends or families?  2. What do you think is the meaning of sending a gift? 
[設(shè)計意圖] 先通過幾個問題直接引入內(nèi)容,通常我們都是送禮物給親朋好友，以此做鋪墊，讓學(xué)生思考But how about the gifts for the poor kids?

[設(shè)計意圖] 讓學(xué)生了解網(wǎng)頁結(jié)構(gòu)，更好的深入理解文章。

Part 1 Read the passage and answer the 3 questions 1. Why are the gifts called unusual gifts? 
The gift you give is not something your loved one keeps but a contribution towards the lives of people who really need it.

[設(shè)計意圖] 學(xué)生能夠使用Skimming & Scanning閱讀技巧找答案，同時通過指出長難句并讓學(xué)生翻譯，目的是使他們學(xué)會多去發(fā)現(xiàn)beautiful sentences并能熟練使用。 
 Part 2 The gift catalogue 
Task 1 Get the general meaning of each item 
How many gifts are listed in the catalogue? In what order are the gifts listed? 
Then help students take a careful look at each item of the gift catalogue. Task 2 Skimming and Matching  
Choose the correct gift (A to U) from the Internet page next to each description. （Group work） 
i. This gift allows a woman who is a trained tailor to make some 
income, giving her and her family a better future. →N- a sewing machine 
ii. This gift gives a person the opportunity to acquire basic reading and 
writing, and life skills. Adults develop the confidence to participate in the social, economic and political lives of their communities. →G- basic adult education 
iii. This gift buys a goat. A goat gives milk and is a valuable income. 
Goats increase in number quickly and add much to a family’s food and financial security. They are easy and fun for children to care for. → J- A goat for a poor family 
iv. This gift covers the cost of exercise books and textbooks for 
community primary schools that operate in poor or remote villages. → F- School books 
[設(shè)計意圖] 第二部分的禮物清單不是衣服、食物等簡單的詞匯，所以在課程設(shè)計上增加對禮物清單的意思識記，先讓學(xué)生掌握其中的一些生詞再做任務(wù)Task2， 物品匹配。物品描述內(nèi)容較多，在讓學(xué)生看描述時，加強學(xué)生找關(guān)鍵詞的能力，提高學(xué)生的閱讀技能。 Part 2 A sample card
