You are supposed to shake hands.
be supposed to do… 應該……被期望做……,當句子的主語是人時,它可以用來表示勸告,建議,義務,責任等,意思是 “to be expected to do sth., or to have to do sth.”
e.g.You’re supposed to ask the teacher if you want to leave the classroom.
如果你要離開教室,應該先問問老師。
We are not to supposed to play football on Sunday.

That’s how people in Japan are expected to greet each other.
greet=to welcome or say “hello” 動詞 “問候,打招呼”
