教學目標
Ⅰ、Teaching Aims and Demands:
1 Knowledge Objects:
Words: opinion, skill. Typical, cut out, quick, continue, compare …with, crazy, push, development, cause, usual.
Structures:
The tired children don’t get home until after 7:00 pm.
Many of them are leaning exam skills so that they can get into a good high school and later a good university.
Although it’s normal to want successful children, it’s even more important to have happy children.
2 Ability Objects:
(1) Train students’ reading skills by finding the topic sentences and guessing the meanings of new words from the context.
(2) Encourage students to talk about after-school activities and express their own opinions about them.
3 Moral Objects
Learn to compare the problems of Chinese families with American families and summarize the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western cultures.
2學情分析
教學內容分析:
這一課時是人教版新目標八年級下第四單元的Section B 2a-2d。第四單元的語言目標是能詢問,陳述自己或他人的困難和麻煩,能針對別人的困境提出解決的辦法和建議。Section B部分進一步拓寬了本單元的話題內容,不僅探討了如何通過各種活動來減輕壓力,還比較了東西方家長對子女教育的態度和做法。該部分的學習將有利于學生學會換位思考,幫助他們逐步建立正確積極的生活態度和價值觀。2a-2e是Section B 的閱讀教學部分,學習內容如下:
1 談論課外活動和課外學習班給學生帶來的問題并能用目標語言給出建議。
2 本片閱讀屬于本單元的第二次閱讀,側重于閱讀策略的指導,要求學生掌握并能使用閱讀策略閱讀文本,獲取信息。(學會在語境中感知和體會詞匯含義,學會根據上下文猜測生詞的含義。)
3. 在理解所讀內容的基礎上總結出中美家庭共同存在的問題,并能用自己的話來闡述文中不同人的觀點和看法。學生能就此問題提煉自己的觀點和建議,并嘗試另寫一段,拓展閱讀文本內容。
學生情況分析:
本課的授課對象是廬江中學實驗初中八下學生,班級學生相對較多,但學生接觸過相關材料的英語學習,有一定基礎,接受能力較強;具有良好的學習習慣;喜歡合作、競爭、探究學習。但學生對英語知識的建構,閱讀技巧的運用,閱讀能力的開發等仍然處于待提高階段。所以教師在設計課程時要充分考慮其實效性,上課過程中應鼓勵他們樹立信心,積極參與,樂于模仿,敢于開口,積極參與。

Step1:Before reading--- A Survey
1 Look at the picture, what’s wrong with the girl?
Ss: She has too many after-school classes./ She is stressed out./ Her parents give her too much pressure.
2 Do you have any after-school classes to take? What kind of classes do you have?
S:English training class / painting class/ singing class/dancing class
3 What other after-school activities can you think of? Please write them down on a piece of paper.( football training, Olympian math class)
4 Do you love those after-school classes? Why?
Ss: Yes, I do. I learned exam skills, so I can get good grades and get into a good high school. / No, I don’t. These activities make me tired, I don’t have any free time to do things I like. I don’t like to compete with others.
T :Today we will read a passage about students’ after-school activities in American. What’s the school life for American children?
設計意圖:了解學生的課外活動,試圖找出課外活動和課外學習班是一個普遍現象. 激活學生已有知識(即語言知識、文化背景知識和語境知識,這是意義建構的基礎框架)激發學生的濃厚興趣,上課一開始就抓住學生的注意力,讓學生帶著興趣及對閱讀的預知期待著閱讀的展開。 同時,在談論這一話題的過程中,梳理了本課時的詞匯, 幫助學生掃清影響閱讀理解的障礙,降低閱讀難度,使其在閱讀時能順利的捕捉信息,為后續的重建信息做好鋪墊。

Reading Strategy: Skimming
This means looking quickly through a piece of writing to find the main idea without reading every word. It is still a good idea to read the first sentence or the last sentence in each paragraph a little more carefully.

Step 3 Detailed -reading: Read each paragraph and complete the reading tasks.

Step4 After-reading: Retelling
Ask students to fill in the blanks according to the passage.

Tell them retelling is a good way to remember the details, and encourage them to retell after class.
復述課文是訓練學生記憶的有效手段。課文復述不僅要求學生讀懂、熟讀課文,記得課文的主要內容,而且要記得課文中的一些重難點語句,這就要求學生細心耐心的去閱讀課文,理解課文,并且抓住課文的主要細節,也讓學生從中養成良好的閱讀習慣。課文復述也可以調動學生參與的積極性從而讓學生開口說英語。
Step5Summary and discussion
1 Summary: Summarize the structure of the passage; tell students it can help them to write their own passages.
【設計意圖】教師的閱讀設計不能僅停留在對文本內容的處理上,而要引導學生對所學內容進行梳理,文本知識框架不僅包括篇章內部結構及邏輯關系,而且包括作者特定的寫作手法。同時也為下面的討論提供語言支持。
2 Discussion: What do you think of after-school activities?
T:Now more and more children are having different kinds of after-school classes. As a middle school student, what do you think of it? Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of having after-school classes. Fill in the table and have a debate.
設計意圖: 進行課外補習到底是利大于弊,還好是弊大于利,引導學生進行一番辯論并且能給出原因。提示學生應用所學的句子.教師可提供分正反兩方一些幫助。
Step6 Homework:
1What do you think of the after-school classes? Write an article about it.
引導學生能就課堂上討論的問題提煉自己的觀點和建議,并嘗試另寫一段拓展閱讀文本內容。
2 My view about after-school classes:
T:I think some of the activities are very important and useful for our future. But too many after-school activities will make us under too much stress. And it is crazy to compare us with other students. We should have time to do what we enjoy doing to relax ourselves.
