I. Teaching objectives
1.Knowledge objective: Students can listen, read and say the new words and phrases: breakfast, English class, lunch, music class, P.E. class, dinner.
2.Ability objective: Students can basically master the sentence pattern: “What time is it? It’s…o’clock. It’s time for…”.
3.Emotion objective: Students can increase their sense of time and cultivate the good habits of cherish time and punctuality. II. Key and difficult points
1. Key points: (1)Enable the students to grasp the new words and phrases.
(2)Enable the students to understand the meaning of the new sentence pattern: “What time is it? It’s… o’clock. It’s time for…”.
2. Difficult points: Enable the students to use the sentence pattern: “What time is it? It’s… o’clock. It’s time for…” to ask and answer. III. Teaching and learning methods

Multimedia, PPT, blackboard V. Teaching procedures Step 1 Warm up 1. Greeting
T: Good morning, boys and girls. Ss: Good morning, Miss Zhu. T: How are you today? Ss: Fine, thank you.
T: It’s really a warm day today, right? Please don’t take off your clothes and take care of yourselves. Now it’s time for English class, are you ready? Ss:Yes! 2.Revision
(1)Review the number words from 1 to 12. Ss read with gestures.
(2)Teacher shows the numbers with gestures, Ss speak out the words;Teacher say the words, Ss show the words with gestures. Step 2 Lead-in
Teacher shows a picture of a clock and asks: What’s this? Ss: It is a clock. (help answer) teach the new word: clock.
T: Now from the clock, we know it can tell us : the time(help answer)
Prestent the word: time, teach the word. Then show the topic: what time is it? Step 3 Presentation and practice
1. New words: breakfast, lunch, dinner, English class, music class, PE class Present the PPT, it’s about John’s one day.
T: Look at the screen, who is him? Ss: John.
T: Yes, he is John. And this is a day about him. Now let’s learn something about him , OK? Ss: OK!
T: Look! What is John doing? He is eating... Ss: breakfast
T: Yes! He is eating breakfast! ( write “breakfast” and read). (present a picture) Now it’s 9 o’clock. John is having an... Ss: English class.
T: Yes, he is having an English class.( write “English class” and read) Use the same way to teach the rest words. Practice: What’s missing? (with PPT) 2. New sentence pattern
T: (Present the picture) Now please look at the clock. It can tell us time, right? So can you tell me, what time is it? ( write “what time is it” ) Ss: It’s 9 o’clock.
T: Yes, it’s 9 o’clock. ( write “It’s 9 o’clock” ) And it’s time for... Ss: English class.
T: Yes, very good. It’s time for English class.( write “It’s time for English class” ) Practice: Use the pictures to ask Ss with the sentence pattern: What time is it? And Ss should answer like: It’s… o’clock. It’s time for…” Step 4 Consolidation and Extension (1)Role play the dialogue in Let’s learn. (2)Pair work.
Ss work in pairs and draw a picture of clock with time. Make a dialogue with your partner by using the words and sentences we’ve learnt. VI. Homework
1. Read the words and sentences in Let’s learn. 2. Design your own time table.
