Period 1 Section A 1a – 1c
1. Teaching aims and demands
Knowledge objects:
① Learn and be able to use the following words and expressions: standard, keyboard, survey, row, in a row
② Be able to talk about one’s memories and experiences by using the following structures: I remember doing… I have done… Ability objects:
① To develop students’ ability of listening and speaking.
② To enable students to transfer from language into ability by communicating in English. Moral Objects:
① Make the students remember unforgettable memories and experiences in their past three years.
② Make the students interested in cooperation . Teaching key points and difficulties:
① How to help the students use the sentence structures properly. ② How to help the students remember the new words quickly.
Teaching methods:
Task-based Language Teaching, Visual Teaching Method, Audio-lingual Method
Teaching procedures:
Step1: Warming-up
Greet the students and lead in the topic of this class. Ask the students to make a graduation video for themselves. Step2: Presentation-- Memory box
Show some pictures to remind them of their memories in junior school as well as to introduce some new phrases in this part:
doing a school survey, a friend helping you with a problem, winning a prize, having a soccer competition, being a volunteers… Step3: Pair work
Ask the students to share their memories with their partner. Step4: Listening
Ask the students to listen to a conversation between a group of friends and fill in the blanks.
Step5: Presentation—Experiences
1. Show some pictures of different places in the school and ask the students to talk about the things they have done in these places by using the structure “I have done…”
2. PK with your friend.
Ask the students to choose one place on the screen and take turns to talk about
the things they have done in this place. Step6: Group work
Show a part of the video to be finished, then ask the students to complete it by adding a short text. A sample text is given to the students for reference. Step 7: Assignment
Write a goodbye letter to your classmates.
