Show a picture in the zoo.
T: What place is it? What can we see in it?
Have some students list some animals, like tigers, elephants, koalas, lions,
giraffes etc.
Step 2 Presentation 1.
1.List the words about animals
tiger, elephant, koala, panda, lion, giraffe, bear, monkey, wolf, kangaroo
2.Let’s go to the zoo and have a good time there.
What animals do you like ?
Why do you like …?
Have the students to talk about the animals they like and then state the reasons why they like them.
List the description words on the board one by one .
A: What animals do you like?
A: What animals do you like? B: I like ….
A: Why do you like them? B: Because they are ….
Step 3 Listening practice 1.
Listen and fill in the chart. Write down what animals they like and the reasons. animals why
Step 4 Presentation 2. Show a map of the world.
T: Pandas are my favorite animals. So do you know where pandas are from. S: They are from China.
Teacher asks where other animals are from. List the countries: China, Australia, South Africa Step 5 Listening practice 2.
John and Julie are in the zoo to have some fun. What animals do they want to see first ? Let’s listen and find out…
1.For the first time listening, have the students write the animals and draw lines from the descriptions.
Check answers by making conversations.

2.For the second time listening, have the students fill in the blanks. Step 5 Guessing game.
Have students guess what the animals are by asking questions. Questions like : Is it from China?
Is it tall ?
Is it black and white? Does it like eating grass? Where are they from ? Are they friendly or scary?
Step 6 Survey
Make a survey about your partners’ favorite animal. Then give a report.
