Teaching objectives:
By the end of the class, Ss will be able to:
1. Knowledge objective:
cognize the vocabulary and expressions of travelling;
2. Ability objectives:
use skimming and scanning to understand the structure and get the detailed information;
talk about different ways to travel around and compare them for choosing the best one;
write a passage using comparative and superlative forms to compare the ways of travelling in logic and coherence;
3. Moral objectives:
understand the best way to travel in daily life may not be the cheapest or the fastest, but the most suitable one;
make their own family trips and love the beautiful sceneries of the world.
2學情分析
This is a passage about the best way to travel based on the topic of planes, ships and trains. There are two parts in this passage: the question part and the answer part.
The target students are the eighth graders. They have grasped the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives in the previous modules, so they can make comparisons to some extent. But they may have difficulties in understanding the comparative and superlative forms of multi syllable adjectives and adverbials.
3重點難點
The key points are :
1) to grasp the vocabulary and use reading strategies to understand the structure and details of a passage;
2) to compare the different ways of travelling and find out the best one;
The difficult point is:
to decide the best way of travelling in life according to different criteria.

4.1第一學時
4.1.1教學目標

活動1【導入】What is the best way to travel
利用教師和學生在生活中的出行情況,導入本節課的各種交通方式,并在此過程中處理詞匯trip 和journey.
活動2【講授】What is the best way to travel
根據學生的小組反饋,從倒入進入到選擇最佳交通方式時應該注意的問題,進入課文學習,幫助文章主人公選擇從倫敦到阿姆斯特丹的最佳交通方式。
活動3【活動】What is the best way to travel
學生三讀過程,在教師的引導下,把握文章框架,對文本的細節信息進行提取,對四種交通方式進行比較。通過小組合作,同桌合作,閱讀文本,深挖文本的同時,習得多音節形容詞的比較級和最高級用法。
活動4【練習】What is the best way to travel
三讀之后,對文章內容進行梳理,目的是為了讓學生有情感升華,明白所謂“最佳”其實是因人而異的,“最佳”即“最適合”.并運用這一標準,討論比較從倫敦到巴黎的交通方式。
活動5【測試】What is the best way to travel
根據學生的閱讀理解情況,讓學生將文章中涉及的四種交通方式排序,從最昂貴到最便宜。這一環節要求學生關上書本,利用閱讀記憶提取文中關鍵詞句,檢測學生的閱讀效率。
活動6【作業】What is the best way to travel
課后作業奔著閱讀是為寫作做鋪墊,學習語言是為了運用語言這一目的,讓學生自行設計家庭出游計劃并坐車最佳選擇。學生在完成作業之前,教師有具體詳細的步驟指導,最終是讓學生運用多音節形容詞比較級和最高級的同時,能夠感知“最佳”即“最適合”這一價值觀。
