Teaching Aims:
To learn what suffixes are and the uses of suffixes
To learn to add correct suffixes to create nouns To be able to learn new words according to suffixes
To improve understanding of sentences and passages with the help of suffixes Key points and teaching difficulties :
To add correct suffixes to create new words
To understand the meaning of the new words created by suffixes properly
Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-in
1. Free talk with the students about their school life, help students to talk about their
feelings using words with suffixes.
2. Revise the use of these suffixes and then present the aims today---to learn three suffixes. [設計意圖]
通過前幾個單元的學習,學生已經具備了一定的構詞法知識,了解到后綴的添加可以改變單詞的詞義和詞性。通過導入的設計,可以激活學生已有知識,為新課的學習做好準備,同時也能幫助學生更明確本課時的學習任務。 Step 2 Presentation
1. Present the suffix “er” by talking about 2017 Marathon in Nanjing.
2. Talk with the students about the players’ jobs and present more words ending with “er”. 3. Ask the students to observe the spelling of the words and work out proper ways to add
“er” to verbs and nouns.
4. Help the students understand the grammatical function and pragmatic function of the
suffix “er”. [設計意圖]
劉道義教授根據人本主義學習理論與實踐重點研究了學習者的學習能力的發展過程,提出了英語學習者的學習能力的形成都要經歷動機、注意、建構等階段。學生只有運用這些學習策略主動學習,才能形成學習英語的能力,為自主學習和可持續學習創造有利條件。 Step 3 Practice and consolidation
1. Ask the students to practise adding the suffix “er” correctly according to the rules they
concluded just now.
2. Help the students understand the meaning of the new words by talking about the
mistakes people make in daily lives and advise students to guess the meaning of the new words according to the context. [設計意圖]
學習者的學習動機能否保持,學習者學習過程中的成功體驗起著較大的作用。學習者如果能夠體驗到學習的成功,那么其學習態度就會更加積極,學習動機也就能保持下去。在這一步驟中練習的設計就是檢測學生通過剛才的學習是否能正確添加詞綴以及對詞綴的語用意義和語法意義的理解。語言學習不僅僅是用于測試,也可以運用于實際生活中,教師設計了生活實際運用的環節以幫助學生體會到學習的實際意義。在反饋練習中,教師也幫助學生確認了單詞的語用功能,任何詞都是存在于一定的語境之中,單詞的意義也由此而生。 Step 4 Presentation
1. Present the second suffix—“or” by talking about students’ dream career in the future.
2. Practise the use of “or” by talking about the pictures on the power point. (sailor, actor, director)
3. Present the suffix “ist” and then practise by talking about three famous people. (biologist, humorist, tourist)

本課時所學后綴都實施行為的人的含義,比較多的都是描述人的職業的單詞。因此,在這一環節中,教師秉承了之前的職業主線,讓學生在語言運用中自然地習得后綴的語法功能和語法意義。 Step 5 Consolidation
1. Add the three suffixes to words correctly.
2. Complete the sentences by adding correct suffixes to the words chosen from the box. 3. Complete the reading comprehension exercises related to the use of suffixes. [設計意圖]
本課時所學后綴都實施行為的人的含義,比較多的都是描述人的職業的單詞。因此,在這一環節中,教師秉承了之前的職業主線,讓學生在語言運用中自然地習得后綴的語法功能和語法意義。 Step 6. Promotion
Help the students to be aware of the importance of suffixes and prefixes by seeing words related to use.
[設計意圖]
構詞法的學習并不是簡單的學一個公式,而是幫助學生主動運用學習技能學習策略,進行自主學習和延伸性學習。這一環節的設計就是讓學生能通過練習,體會到構詞法的美妙之處,從而能自覺運用所學,進入深入學習。
