本節課的授課學生是中國科學院附屬實驗學校八年級1班學生。經過初一一年的教學，與學生關系非常融洽，互相熟悉對方的教與學的方式。學生整體有表達的欲望，逐步有英語思維的意識。課堂氛圍融洽，積極活潑。
1. 知識技能儲備： 學生整體程度中等，有一定的詞匯量儲備。在思維上開始有一定的深度。課堂中基本的教師用語能夠明白，但是對于自己思維的表達，由于詞匯和句法的限制，比較受限制，完整句的表達相對較少。
2.情感態度基礎：本班大部分學生善于思考， 班級氛圍融洽，對老師的問題能夠積極討論。因此多采用小組活動的方式，增加組員間的交流和思維的碰撞。
3.學習提升需求：本課主要講解不同交通方式之間的比較與選擇。在詞匯上生詞不多。因此，主要調動學生的思維主動性，概括出制定一個旅行方案需要考慮哪些方面的因素，如何權衡。讓學生理解事物的兩面性，并且在比較權衡中做出最佳選擇。
