The current theory view talking as an interactive process which involves not only the printed page but also students‟ old knowledge of the language in general. In the talking process, these factors interact with each other and compensate for each other. Based on the understanding of listening as an interactive process, real communication in the classroom among students and teachers is the key point. Ⅱ.Teaching material and learning condition
The analysis of teaching material
The teaching material is the talking part from PEP BOOK8 Unit4 Then and now. The topic of this unit is the changes from school and people. This passage mainly introduces changes on Mike and John. The topic is new to the students. And also there are some new words and phrases in the passage.
The analysis of learning condition
The students are from grade6 in primary school. They have had some words and sentences in their minds and they have the ability to get the basic idea of the listening material. Since they are in grade6, they are encouraged to air their own opinions on the topic. They are familiar with the use of past tense and know some verb phrases. But they may not have the sense to compare the information from now and before. Moreover, their vocabulary is limited so they may have difficulties in expressing the changes on them. Ⅲ. Teaching Objectives
By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to: 1. understand the main idea of the dialogue, and read it clearly. 2. use structures like “I was ... Now I‟m ...”“I couldn‟t ... Now ...”to talk about the changes on themselves.
3. observe the old photos and talk about the changes of themselves and their friends.

Enable students use structures like “I was ... Now I‟m ...”“I couldn‟t ... Now ...”to talk about the changes of themselves. Ⅴ. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Greeting
Free talk. Get to know teachers and students. Talk about colours, personality and abilities.
(設計意圖:談話導入,讓學生了解老師,說一說老師的現在和自己的現在,激活描述人物的舊知。通過描述老師小時候的樣子,激活過去式已有的舊知。)
Step 2 Lead in the topic
PPT show pictures of Mike and his friends. Now Mike‟s friends are visiting his home. Ask students do the exercises of “Let‟s try” and then check.
(設計意圖:Let’s try部分先通過讀圖,了解文本中的三個人物以及對話發生的場景,通過‘It was five years ago.’這個時間點,推測出照片中Little Mike當時所處的年級,再次讓學生明確本課的重點語法知識是過去式。)
Step 3 Learn the dialogue
1. Listen to the whole dialogue and find out the changes they talking about.
(設計意圖:整體輸入文本語言,讓學生感知目標文本,有整理的概念。)
2. Students read the photos of Mike ,and talk about „How did Mike change?‟ 3. Students read the photos of John ,and talk about „How did John change?‟
(設計意圖:將目標文本分兩段來處理,讓學生感知談論變化時,可以從哪些方面描述,并熟練和習得目標詞和句。)
4. Read along with the tape and read freely. 5. Role play.
(設計意圖:給學生充分的聽讀時間,并對他們進行朗讀指導,注意發音和語流。)
Step 4 More to talk about the old photos
1.Talk about classmates‟ old photos and their changes. Before… Now…
2. Talk about students‟ own changes
(設計意圖:通過看自己小時候的照片,真實地談論自己的變化,將語言知識轉化為語言能
力,一生在說,其余同學聽,教師根據學生的介紹進行有針對性地提問該生的變化。)
3. Show the photos students took from grade1 to grade 6 and talk about “Friendship will never change.
(設計意圖:通過展示學生六年小學生活中的部分集體活動照片,引發學生思考,什么是不會變的——友誼,以激起學生的情感,珍惜友誼。)
