Revision of the passive voice  
Ⅰ Teaching aims 
1. Language ability: in this lesson, the students will learn and master the concept and the structure of the passive voice as well as the tenses of the passive voice. Besides, the students will also be able to change an active sentence into a passive sentence. In the end, the students will remember four famous proverbs which contain the passive voice.   
2. Thinking quality: to guide the students to think about how to master the passive voice.  3. Learning ability: the students will know how to learn the passive voice. 
4. Cultural awareness: the students will know that the passive voice is widely used in English and the difference in voices between Chinese and English.  
Ⅱ Teaching important and difficult points: the tenses of the passive voice and how to change an active sentence into a passive sentence.  
Ш Teaching methods:task-based teaching method, method lecture, demonstration method.  Ⅳ Teaching aids: the blackboard, the computer, PPT, a time recorder.  Ⅴ Teaching procedures Step 1  Lead - in 
Listen to a song called Dream It Possible and briefly introduce it. Then ask the students to observe the red words in the brief introduction of the song and find out what they have in common.

Part 2  Tenses of the passive voice 口訣：被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)be 字變，過(guò)去分詞跟后面。 
一般現(xiàn)在時(shí) (Simple present tense)           am/ is / are + done 
一般過(guò)去時(shí) (Simple past tense) was / were + done 一般將來(lái)時(shí) (Simple future tense)   shall /would +be done 
現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí) (Present continuous tense)           am / is / are + being done 
過(guò)去進(jìn)行時(shí) (Past continuous tense) was / were + being done 
現(xiàn)在完成時(shí) (Present perfect tense)           have/ has + been done 
過(guò)去完成時(shí) (Past perfect tense) had + been done 
過(guò)去將來(lái)時(shí) (Past future tense) 
should / would + be done

There are two voices in English —active voice and passive voice.When the subject of a sentence is the agent (執(zhí)行者),we use active voice; when the subject is the recipient (承受者), we use the passive voice. 助動(dòng)詞be+過(guò)去分詞

【Exercise】 Fill in the blanks using the correct tense of  “ be” .         Part 3 Change an active sentence into a passive sentence A. 【Steps】 找→ 換 → 改 → 加            
1. 找：找主語(yǔ)和賓語(yǔ)                              2. 換：主賓調(diào)換位置 
3. 改：謂語(yǔ)改成 be + done    4. 加：加上 by+動(dòng)作執(zhí)行者 Example : 
Tom              broke              the window.  
        Subject            Verb               Object  
        
        The window       was broken          by Tom.  
        Object             be + done          by + 動(dòng)作執(zhí)行者 B．Pay attention to (注意事項(xiàng)) 
1. S +Vt + IO + Do ( 主語(yǔ)+ 謂語(yǔ)+ 間接賓語(yǔ)+ 直接賓語(yǔ))  
【口訣】如遇雙賓語(yǔ)，最好變間賓， 如若變直賓，間賓前加to / for 。     
間賓前加to的動(dòng)詞： 
 
間賓前加for的動(dòng)詞： 2. 動(dòng)詞短語(yǔ) 
       
3. S +Vt + O + OC (主語(yǔ)+ 謂語(yǔ)+ 賓語(yǔ)+賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ))   
【注意】  The room ___cleaned every day.  The room ____cleaned yesterday.  The room ________cleaned tomorrow.  The room _________cleaned now.  The room __________cleaned at 5 yesterday.  The room _________cleaned for many years.    The room _________cleaned before you came.    He said the room ________cleaned the next day. 
Tom gave me a book.  He bought me a new coat.  I was given a book by Tom. bring, give, hand , lend , offer, pass,  pay, promise, sell, show, take, 
teach, tell ...  
A book was given to me by Tom.  A new coat was bought for me by him.    build, cook, cut，choose, do, find, fix, get, keep, make, order, paint, play, sing ...       He made me do the work.    
I was made to do the work by him. 在see, watch, hear, notice, make，have, feel等動(dòng)詞后作賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)的動(dòng)詞不定式都不帶to,
但改成被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)后都要帶to。 
They have never listened to him.  He has never been listened to.  
注意：含動(dòng)詞詞組的被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)，須將其看作一個(gè)整體，不可把它們分隔開(kāi)來(lái)。 【練習(xí)】Rewrite the sentence using the passive voice.

Step 7 Teaching reflection  
     In this class, I guide my students to revise the basic concept and structure of the passive voice. As they have learned the passive voice in the junior high school, it is easy for them to talk about these two aspects. But, the students are most likely to make mistakes in the tenses of the passive voice and the exchange between the active sentence and passive sentence, so I spend most time to help them focus on the two language points. After my students have mastered the rules, they are told to finish some exercises to consolidate the usages of the passive voice.  
     However, there are some deficiencies.The classroom language that I use is not so precise. And I don’t motivate the students’ interest in learning the passive voice. When I ask my students to discuss with each other, most of them choose to keep silent and do the second exercise by themselves. 
     To some degree, this class is successful, because my students have mastered the concept and the structure of the passive voice. They can also use the right tenses of the passive voice when they rewrite an active sentence using the passive voice.
