Unit 3 A taste of English Humour Using language II Speaking and Writing
Teaching aims(教學(xué)目標(biāo)):
Knowledge aim(知識(shí)目標(biāo)): Help the students learn how to write stories using the target language and according to the writing steps.
Ability aim(能力目標(biāo)): Help the students learn to explore the topic and how to develop a composition.
Emotion aim(情感目標(biāo)): Help the students to learn more about English humor, so that they can face any difficulty positively.
Teaching important points(教學(xué)重點(diǎn)):
Teach students to write according to the writing steps.
Teaching difficult points(教學(xué)難點(diǎn)):
Help students explore a topic, using the target language.
Teaching method(教學(xué)方法):
Volunteering speaking; brainstorming phrases and sentences; group-work writing.
Teaching tools(教學(xué)工具): Multi-media Teaching contents(教學(xué)內(nèi)容):
Step 1 Speaking(說(shuō))
1. Let students volunteer to tell funny stories or English jokes

that they know to the whole class. This is a good chance for the students to practice speaking English, and through this process the students can further understand English humour, which in turn will contribute to their English learning.
2. Tell the students a joke: The Perfect Diet, which is a narrative as well as an interesting funny story, which can be used as a good lead-in.
Step 2 Writing(寫作)
1. First introduce some strategies of writing a story.
⑴ The six essential factors must be explained to the students, that is, when, where, who, what, why and how.
⑵ Explore the topic carefully and decide that the major points should be included. Let the students take notice that the composition should be written in the first person.
⑶ Stick to the key points and make sentences according to the requirements..
⑷ Express accurately and transit naturally. The students can use some complex sentence structures, such as compound sentences or clauses, as well as some transitional words or phrases.
2. Let students practice writing a story.
Give the students a topic to practice writing a story.

3. Explore the topic and discuss how to develop the story. Guide the students in exploring the topic. Decide the six essential factors and the tense, etc.
4. Brainstorm phrases and sentences that can be used in the writing.
According to the contents of the requirement, inspire the students to think about the words and phrases that can be used. Let the students to brainstorm, and think of as many as expressions.
5. Write the story in groups.
Give the students enough time to discuss in groups about the development of the story and give them enough help in combining sentences and organize the article. Ask them to choose a team leader to set down the composition in clear and tidy handwriting.
Step 3 Presentation(成果展示)
All the six groups hand in their composition and present their work to the whole class.
Use the projector to display the students’ compositions, at the same time point out the good sentences and correct the mistakes. Step 4 Homework(作業(yè)) Write a story about today’s class.

State clearly in your composition: When, where, who, what, why, how, your feelings and your gains.
Reflection(教學(xué)反思):
This lecture is generally fluent and smooth, in which all the students take an active part in the class activities, especially in the jokes telling and brainstorming processes. And the final presentations are quite satisfying and productive. One of the shortcomings is the creativity of the students is not inspired fully. Later I will pay special attention to this point.
