Unit 13 We are trying to Save the earth. Reading:《Rethink, Reuse, Recycle!》
Teaching aims
1.language knowledge: ss can know and use the words including rethink, reuse, recycle,
inspiration, create, creative, creativity, iron, handbag, art works,unusual
Ss are able to know the phrases: throw ..away ,put to good use, turned upside down, build out of rubbish, set up, environment protection.
2.Language ability: ss can understand the passage. Ss can understanding the structure of the passage.
ss can express their understanding and opinion about the writing puropse after reading Reading also show their plans after getting the inspirations from the passage.
3.reading strategy: ss can use title and pictures to predict the content of the passage.
Ss can use prefix and suffix to figure out the meaning of the words and the
part of the speech.
Ss can use different reading skills for different reading purposes
4.affection aims: ss can realize the importance of creative mind in protecting environment and
reducing pullution.
Teaching design
Step1 lead in
Show sth old things and waste that can be seen in our daily life. Ask ss their usual ways of dealing with rubbish. Lead them to start reading Step2.pre-reading
Make ss predict the passage by title and pictures
Tell ss prefix can help us guess the meaning of the words Step3.while reading
1, read for general idea.ask ss skim the passage and match the pictures with the paragraph. After that read for structure by skimming.
2. read for specific information by fast reading. Ask ss to find the persons and materials mentioned in three examples.
3.careful reading. Read each paragraph carefully get detailed information in order to deepen ss ‘ understanding and solve some difficulties in reading comprehension including words and expressions.
Step4.after reading
Ss think and express their understanding of the title to encourage ss to have critical thinking when reading .
Ss are required to think about the purpose of the writing. Ss are encouraged to think deeply and try to communicate with the writer.
