Step1. Revision (To help the students revise the target language in last lesson) Make sentences by using “used to” and “now”.
Step 2. Teach the new vocabulary
(This activity can help the students know the vocabularies)
Ask the students to look at the star Fan Binging they all know. Tell something about her and teach the new vocabulary.
Step 3. 3a (To provide the students with reading practice using the target language) Let the students look at the photo, ask some questions. The have students read the article. Then identify the paragraphs in which the following information appears. Number the information(1—3). ___ how Candy’s life has changed.
3 ___ Candy’s advice to young people. ___ Candy’s background.
Go through the passage with the students together. Help the students to understand the meaning of the passage.
Step4. 3a Explain
Let the students read the passage with some questions, then explain some language points.
Step5.3b (To give the students an opportunity to test their reading comprehension) Have students read the passage quickly. Then complete the sentences about Candy. Check their answers.
Step6.3c (To give the students an opportunity to use the main idea in the passage) Suppose you are the interviewer and your partner is Candy. Ask and answer questions. Help students to check their answers.
