Grasp some words related to jobs.
Use the proper expressions to write a self-assessment and describe a person.

By the end of the class, my Ss will be able to
Improve their listening and speaking skills through group discussion.
Read passages and find specific information.
Grasp the main idea of the passage and process information.
International Comprehension awareness
Students will know better about the jobs and respect every job’s value.
Students should that the best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today.
2學情分析
The Students are from Grade 10 in Northeast Yucai Experimental School, International high school.They have achieved certain ability in English comprehension. Besides, they like to air their opinions, so discussion in groups is supposed to be carried out effectively.
3重點難點
Language focuses
Understand the the expressions of jobs, ways to describe details related to the jobs to be discussed.
Talk about the self-assessment and future job.
Improve the Students reading ability, for instance, to read the passage and find out detailed information.
Anticipated difficulties
(1) Express their own opinions and ideas, especially in assessment on classmates .
(2) Use complete sentences to describe a job and personalities of person.

4.1第一學時
4.1.1教學活動
活動1【導入】 Warming-up
1. Ask the Students to look at the photos and judge what job it is.
Teacher asks questions as follows:
1. Where do they work?
2. What do they do?
3. What kind of person fits for this job?
(Teacher should try to encourage the Students to say something about jobs, using some structures such as in my opinion, I think… etc. And help them get familiar with the topic of this lesson.
活動2【活動】Judging and Talking
1. The students look at the photos and read the description of the jobs by their own and tell the teacher what job it is and say something related to the job.
2. The students compare the two similar jobs and tell their opinion on the job.
Using the sentence structure:
I'd rather be...than..., because.....
活動3【練習】While-reading
Task 1: Teacher has the Students read the text quickly and answer the Yes or No questions .
1. Who did a lot of work for the exams?
2. Who is good at translation?
3. Who wants to work with computers?
4. Which student has more friends?
5. Who enjoys studying science?
6. Whose work has got better this term?
7. Which student works harder?
Task 2: Students make complete sentences with the sentence structure above.
Task 3: Students read the passage again and give suggestions on their career planning.Students should practice ways to express opinions.
活動4【講授】Extensive-reading
Students read the third passage related to the two and use the similar way to give advice on the girl.
Teacher makes a conclusion on how to write an assessment.
1. age, sex, birth, family background
2.appearance, character/ personality
3.education
4. ambitions
5. evaluation (schoolwork, specialties, personalities....)
活動5【活動】Doing a job interview
Teachers asks students to do group work. One group contains three members. One is a university students. One is a teacher making assessment on the student. And the third student is a career counselor.
Career Counselor: Hi, can you introduce yourself to me ?
Student: My name is.... My favourite subject is..............
Career Counslor: Hi, Mr... Can you make an assessment on ...?
Teacher: She/he is a lively student.....
Career Counselor: Ok. I think I have an idea now. I think you can work as a/an....., because.....
活動6【活動】Watching a short video and discussing opinions
The video is related to a prestigious cleaner in a Japanese airport.She is called national treasure. She has been a cleaner for 21years. She instructs 700 cleaners and has written 5 books on how to clean facilities well.
Students are asked to give their opinions on this video.
活動7【講授】Summary
Teacher helps students to review the speaking and reading part as well as the methods of describing a person. Teacher makes an oral tests on the expressions and then conclude the group scores.
活動8【作業】Assignment
Write an assessment to your best friend and help your friend judge what job fits for him/her most.. ( about 150words)
