一.教學目標
1.知識目標:
①理解以下詞匯的意義:police artist, crime, criminal, describe, differently, in the end ②鞏固描述人的句型:He /She is… He/ She has… He/ She grows… He /She wears… ③熟練掌握以下句型:
They tell him what the criminal looks like.
The police put it in newspapers and on television to find him. He wants to draw a good picture of each criminal.
Many people don’t always see things the same way so they may describe the same person differently.
2.技能目標: 閱讀技巧---代詞在文章中的指代。 3.情感目標:學生作為公民的責任感和熱心腸。
體驗警察藝術家這份工作,了解職業規劃。

掌握本課時新單詞和句型以及怎么樣描述一個人的外貌。 2.教學難點:
掌握描述人物外貌的方法。
三.學習策略:閱讀策略
1.文章中代詞的含義---聯系上文尋找。 2.借助關鍵詞,猜測新詞的含義。 3.通過題目和圖片,練習快速閱讀。
四.教學過程
1.Warming-up--- Free talk
Introduce myself to the students as a new teacher. Ask the students “Is your job interesting?”
Before reading
2.Ask students to name some interesting jobs.
3.Let students have a guess of the new job “police artist”.
4.Show students a picture of a police artist.
Introduce new words: police artist, criminal,. crime
While reading
5. Fast reading---paragraph 1
Ask students to remember as much as possible.
Find out all the missing words after they have a group discussion. The group with the best memory get one step ahead. 6.Brain storm---A quick review of how to describe people.
We can describe people’s age, height, build, hair and other things. Ask students to say some words about those aspects. 7.A PK GAME on making sentences.
Show students pictures of our school cleaner and our school guard.
Make as many sentences as they can to describe one of them within 30 seconds. 8. Careful reading ---paragraph 2
Give students 3 minutes to read paragraph 2 carefully. Remember as many details as they can.
Students should check whether the statements are true or false. Joe Brown’s job is very easy.( )
Many people see things in different ways.( )
Another woman says, “He is tall and fat, and he has straight blond hair…”( ) 9.Game---“stand up and say stop”
Play a record of paragraph 2, if any students hear the mistakes, he should stand up and say “stop” out loud. Then say the right sentence.
10.Reading strategy ---pronoun refers to the things mentioned in the former context. Ask students to finish 2C and one more pronoun exercise.
After reading
11. Group work
Task : Ask students to be the police artists and witnesses, and draw the criminals out on the wanted paper. Choose the better one to put on CCTV1. 12. Summary
