Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?

First Teaching aims: 1. 1. Knowledge objects::
a. Master the adjectives of describe the animals:cute、lazy、smart、 beautiful、scary、friendly、shy b. Master the key sentences: What animals do you like?
I like dogs because they’re friendly and smart. c. Master the key dialogue. d. Develop fast reading skills
2. Ability objects: a. To train the students’ ability of working in pairs.
b. To develop the students’ ability of communication by learning
some useful structures.
3. Moral objects::
Animals are our friends, we should protect them. Second Teaching analysis: 1. Teaching method:
a. Visual method: Use Multimedia courseware show, Picture show, the teachers asking, Students’ answering to provide chances of practice for students.
b. Catechetic method and Scenario communication method: Show some pictures by using Multimedia, to stimulate students’ abilities of observation and listening. 2. Study method:
a. Preparation before class, Try to learn by themselves.
b. Listen to the teacher carefully in the class to improve the efficiency of learning c. Review and consolidation Third Teaching aids:
1. A projector. 2. A computer system.
Fourth Teaching procedures: Ⅰ. Warming- up and revision 1. Teacher and students greet each other. 2. Review the words of last class 3. Let students guess what animal it is. Ⅱ. Presentation
1. Show some pictures on the big screen and teach students the new words. 2. Let students read aloud the words Ⅲ. Learning
1. Pay attention to the animals in the picture in 1a and ask a student to say the name of each one.
2. Point out the list of eight numbered adjectives below.
T: Now please match the adjectives with the animals in the picture. Ⅳ. Listening Work on 1b:
1. T: Now listen and circle the description words you hear in 1a. 2. Students listen and try to circle the adjectives in 1a. Work on 1c:
1. Call attention to the three headings. Animal, Maria's Words and Tony's Words, and the write-on lines under each.
2. This time please write the name of the animals each person talks about and the words they say.
3. Ask, What animal are they talking about? What words does Mary use to describe the elephant?
Point out the write-on lines where students can write these words. 4. Play the whole recording and have students write the words they hear on the chart.
Ⅴ. Pair work
1. Call attention to the dialogue next to the picture. Ask two students to read it to the class.
2. Say, Work in pairs. Use sentences like these to say what you think about different animals.
3. Students work in pairs to make their own conversations. As they work, move around the room checking on progress.
4. Ask some pairs to present their conversations to the class. Ⅵ. Thinking
1. T: Now there are many animals are in danger in the world. Why? One reason is that men cuts down too many trees so animal are losing their homes. 2. Look at the chart below. What animals do you think are in great danger? 3. Let some students read their answers. Ⅶ. Presentation
1. T:Do you know about Thailand? Introduction to Thailand, and study new words.
save, symbol, flag, water, be in great danger, cut down, tree, kill, ivory…
2. Students read and understand the new words and expressions. Ⅷ. Reading 1. Fast reading
T: Now, read the website article quickly with the tape and check the best title for it . Are you ready?
2.then read the article again and translate the sentences on the big screen I’ll give you three minutes
3. Next read the article and find the answers to these questions (on the big screen):
①Where are the students from? ② Are elephants smart animals?
③Why are elephants in great danger? ④When is Thai Elephant Day?
students read the questions first. Then read the passage again and find the answers to the questions. Ⅸ. Reading
1. Tell the students to look at the map in 2c. There are four box around the word "Elephant". The first box is about the importance of the elephants in Thailand. The second box is about the abilities of the elephants. The third box is about the facts and figures of the elephants. The last box is about how to save the elephants. Let's read the passage again and fill in the blanks.
3. Students read the article and fill in the blanks in the map. 4. Check the answers with the students. Homework
1. Write a passage of your favorite animal. Blackboard Design:

What animal do you like? I like elephants.. Why?
