一、 指導思想與理論依據
本章節，旨在英語閱讀課型承載下，注重對學生核心價值素養四個維度的培養。并在
cooking的主題活動下，將本節課作為單元整體教學的一部分，起到承上啟下的作用。既緊扣cooking (describe a process)， 還要為后面Section B的寫作打下扎實的語言基礎和積累寫作素材。
二、 教學背景分析
一. 教學內容分析：
Ⅰ學生已經在本單元前面課學習了如何描述做一種食物的步驟（First, Next, Then, Finally.） Ⅱ學生已經在前面學習了多種食物的英語名稱（milk shake, blender, spoon, oven, plate, salt, sugar…）對本單元的重點詞匯有一定的掌握，并且掌握了一些相關做食物動作的詞匯（put, peel, pour, turn on…）。
綜上所述，學生在前面的教學中對本單元的基本句型和重點語法有了一定了解和基礎，在本節課將注重學生跨文化意識的培養，通過中國傳統節日和傳統食物引出Thanksgiving in the United States 閱讀文本對西方國家的感恩節有很好的了解，并清楚如何制作感恩節主食turkey。 三．學生情況
學生對西方文化了解比較欠缺，感恩節對很多學生來說比較陌生。因此在閱讀教學過程中通過有趣的圖片，音頻和視頻來激發學生的興趣，調動學生積極參與到課堂中。
三、教學目標
一 教學目標：
本單元的話題是cooking, 功能是describe a process and follow instructions。作為閱讀課部分，在整體單元教學任務中，本著系統化原則，漸進性原則，連貫性原則和有效性原則，閱讀教學的主要目的時教給學生正確的閱讀方法，閱讀技巧，培養學生的閱讀能力。為繼續學習英語和運用英語切實打好基礎。也為后面的寫作積累素材打下良好的語言基礎。
下面從初中英語核心素養的四個方面逐一分析教材內容
語言能力：1.根據所提供的圖片能快速聯想到對應的核心詞匯（Turkey， dumplings, moon cakes, oven…. 2. 在聽力訓練前，能夠根據圖片進行預測。并能較好地完成聽力訓練。 3.通過對making a turkey dinner 部分進行聽力處理后，能夠跟老師一起完成英語

趣配音的活動復述做火雞的步驟 （English Dubbing）4. 模仿老師提供的范本，寫下學生想要感謝誰，想對他說什么，能為他做什么。
學習能力：1.運用一定的閱讀技巧完成老師給定的閱讀任務。 2. 能夠根據閱讀文本中對火雞做法的描述仿寫做另外一種中國傳統食物的步驟。 3.在老師的帶動下，能夠用英文大膽的說出對父母，家人，朋友，老師的感謝。
文化意識：1. 對中國傳統節日（Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Day）及節日主食有所了解。 2. 對美國感恩節有很好的了解（時間，原因，由來，如何慶祝。。。），并由此結合自己的情況深思自己想要感謝的人，想要對他說的話，想為他做的事情。培養學生學會感恩。
思維品質：1.通過討論中國人是否應該慶祝感恩節，讓學生學會批判性地思考問題。 2. 通過mind map 有邏輯性地口述thanksgiving day.
二 教學重點：
Ⅰ重點詞匯：Thanksgiving, traditional, traveler , celebrate, fill, cover, mix…. Ⅱ重點語法：mix together, fill with, put in, place on, cover with, cut into pieces. Ⅲ重點句型：First, mix together some bread pieces, onions, salt and pepper. Next, fill the turkey with this bread mix.
Then, put the turkey in a hot oven and cook it for a few hours.
When it is ready, place the turkey on a large plate and cover it with gravy.
Finally, cut the turkey into thin pieces and eat meat with vegetables like carrots and
potatoes.
三 教學難點：
1. 運用閱讀技巧scanning找到相關信息。 2. 根據mind map 口述感恩節的相關重要信息。

Show 2 pictures of two Chinese traditional days and their special food. Present a picture of turkey and ask students if Thanksgiving Day a Chinese special day.

Pre-reading 讀前
Show a video about Thanksgiving Day and ask students if Thanksgiving Day is a Chinese special day.
Tell the teacher if Thanksgiving Day a Chinese day by watching the short video about
Thanksgiving Day.
引出本節課topic：Thanksgiving Day, 并讓學生產生information gap，對接下來的學習產生濃厚的興趣和調動學生的主動學習性。
While-reading 讀中 (Para 1.)
Give students five questions about Thanksgiving Day and ask them to scan paragraph one and find the answers.
Read paragraph one to find out when, where, how, why, what questions. Show their answers to the class.
讓學生練習并較好地運用scanning快速找出5個問題的答案并大膽自信地給全班分享自己的答案。
Show a video about the history of Thanksgiving Day.
Let the students read the sentences telling about the history of Thanksgiving Day and fill in the blanks by using the words in paragraph one.
Watch and listen carefully to get a good understanding of the story of Thanksgiving Day.
Fill in the blanks after reading those sentences about the history of Thanksgiving Day.
通過視頻和圖片讓學生更好的了解感恩節的由來。并檢測學生觀賞視頻和讀完故事后的掌握情況。同時加深學生的印象。

Ask students to predict according to the five pictures and play the audio material and ask
them to order the five pictures. Think of some key words by seeing the pictures to get ready for the following listening task. And number the pictures 1 to 5.
1. 通過聽力的形式處理火雞的制作方法及過程，讓學生在閱讀課中聽力也得到很好的訓練。
2. 讓學生學會通過看圖片來做預判。 Play the listening material again and ask the students to fill in the blanks.

Invite the students whose birthdays are in this month, November and give them a big surprise.
Sing Happy Birthday to You for their classmates to celebrate their birthdays.
Conclusion
Summarize what we learned in this class. Ask them if they know their parents’ birthdays.
Repeat the important grammars with teacher. And think about when their parents’ birthdays are.
1. 讓學生回顧本堂課所學重點知識，并自我檢測學習情況。 2. 通過詢問學生家長及兄弟姐妹的生日為下一個環節做鋪墊。
Homework
Assign homework.
Interview their parents’ birthdays. If they have brothers or sisters, interview their birthdays too. Record the information on a card in English.
引起學生情感升華，讓學生意識到自己的父母對他們的關愛和密切的關注。通過學生不記得父母生日的現象，引發學生反思自己做得不好的地方。讓學生懂得感恩父母從記住父母生日，并在父母生日時為他們做點特別的事情。
