Teaching objectives:
1. 通過閱讀訓練,培養學生在英語文章中獲取信息的能力,提高閱讀效率。
2. 培養學生樂于助人的品質。 Teaching contents,:

The grammar: how to use “should”. The Analysis of students:
學生具有一定的英語基礎和語言學習能力,積極性比較高,但是也有一部分學生英語語言基礎薄弱,語言拓展的運用能力比較差。作為老師,應該多鼓勵學生積極學習,激發學生的學習興趣,同時加以豐富多彩的教學設計和豐富的教學活動設計,鼓勵學生深入語言實踐。 Key and Difficult Points:
1. To educate students to help others in trouble. 2. To improve the reading skills. Teaching Procedures: 1. Lead in:
a. Show a picture and ask some pictures: 1. What can you see in the picture?
2. If you see the old man lying by the road, what will you do? b. Share the teacher’s opinion with all the Ss.
c. Lead in the famous Chinese saying—“Helping others, especially the old, is the traditional virtue of China”. Help the Ss know the importance of helping others.
d. Introduce the hot issue in our society, and ask Ss: As junior high school students, what should we do? 2.Fast reading:
a. Ask Ss to read the passage as quickly as possible and answer the following questions:
1. Who took the man to the hospital? 2. Was the old man saved in time?
b. Ask some Ss to answer the questions, and share the answers with the whole class. 3. Reading strategy:
a. Introduce an important reading strategy--Finding the Order of Events: News is always described by the order of events. Finding the order of events can help you understand the passage better. b. Ask Ss to think about how to find the order of events. 4. Careful reading (Task 1):
a. Ask the Ss to listen to the tape carefully, and put the sentences in the correct order.
b. Ask them to read the following sentences before listening to the recording, then do the exercise while they’re listening to the tape. c. Check their answers. (Task 2):
a. Read the passage, and find out the Six Elements of News—when, where, who, what, why, how (新聞六要素).
b. Read Para.1to find out the details(when, where, who).
1. Give the Ss several minutes to discuss with their group members. 2. Ask the Ss to share their answers with the whole class.
c. Read Para.2, and fill in the blanks.
1. Ask all the girls to read Para. 2 for the whole class.
2. Invite the boys to fill in the blanks and share the answers one by one. 3. The teacher requires the Ss to pay attention to some important words, and ask someone to tell the meaning and usages. d. Read Para.3, and answer the questions: 1. Why do many people don’t want to help others? 2. Why did the bus driver save the old man?
3. Invite some Ss to share their answers with the whole class. e. Ask the whole class some questions: 1. From the passage, who do you like best? 2. How do you feel about your favorite character?
3. Ask them to work in pairs, and use some adjectives to describe their favorite character.
4. The teacher draw a picture (a hand), and lead Ss to summarize the bus driver’s personality. 5. Exercise:
Let the Ss do some exercises and check their answers. 6. Group work:
There must be some good examples who always help others. Describe a good example in your group.
a. Let the Ss work in groups, and discuss with the group members. b. The teacher show them the useful expressions and main structures . c. Ask some groups to act it out, and evaluate their performance. 7. Emotional sublimation:
a. Share some photos about some famous people who always help others with the Ss work.
b. Help the Ss summarize: All the people have one thing in common: They all have warm hearts, and reach for their hands.
c. Lead the Ss to know: If you want to live in such a wonderful world,
what should we do?
d. Let’s act at once. Reach for your hand and give your heart.You’ll find the beauty of the world! 8. Homework
Write “A Helpful Student in Our Class” (You may write at least 60 words)
