一、教材分析
1．本單元的話題是音樂（music）。音樂是學生最感興趣的話題之一。The Band That Wasn’t以音樂為側面反映了近幾十年來美國社會和價值觀的變化。在本單元的Warming up中，讓學生了解了不同的音樂類型，為閱讀課奠定基礎。 二、學情分析
1．學生已經具備了一定的閱讀技能，如查找細節信息，獲取主要信息，抓住要點等，并且對于音樂這個話題感興趣，對音樂也有一定的了解與認識。 2．學生可能遇到的問題是在閱讀課文中，不能在較短的時間內把握文章的脈絡，概括出文章大意；另外，這篇課文中出現了較多的新詞匯，有一部分詞匯對于學生而言有難度。 三、教學目標 1．語言知識目標：
1)學生能夠正確讀寫及運用以下單詞：
musician, clap, passer-by, form, extra, earn, advertisement, attractive, instrument, loosely, actor
2)學生掌握下列詞組的意思并能在句子中熟練運用：
dream of, be honest with, play jokes on, or so, break up 2．語言技能目標：
強化略讀、查讀等閱讀微技能，訓練通過尋找關鍵詞，主題句等方式更快速并準確地確定文章的段落大意，理清文章的總體框架與脈絡。 3．語言能力目標： 增強閱讀理解能力；
4．情感態度與文化意識目標：
1）了解各種音樂形式，了解The Monkees組合的發展歷程。 2）在小組合作互動中，增強學生的團隊合作精神與分享意識。 3）培養學生自主學習的能力。 四、重點難點
1、教學重點：a.獲取The Monkees組合發展歷程的信息；
b.閱讀能力的培養和閱讀技巧的訓練，如快速閱讀找出各段主題句和精讀課文完成問題等。
2、教學難點：a.通過閱讀更好地發展各種閱讀技巧；
b.訓練用英語獲取信息、處理信息、分析問題和解決問題的能力。 五、教學策略與手段
1．本課采用 閱讀前-閱讀中-閱讀后 三大板塊構成的閱讀教學模式。 2．培養學生調查搜集信息、分析信息，在查找The Monkees的相關信息的過程中整合網絡信息的資源利用策略。
3．培養學生與老師、同學交流信息，交換看法，在小組合作學習和自主探究學習中成長的調控策略。
5．采用多媒體課件作為主要的教學手段。多媒體課件可以將文字、圖象、聲音三者結合起來，更加活潑生動，易于為學生所接受，也能夠更好地服務于教學。同時，借助黑板、粉筆等輔助手段開展教學活動。 六、教學過程 Step 1 Pre-reading
1. Ask some students to answer two questions. 2. Ask some students to name some music style. Show some music style to the students.
3. Ask some students to show the information they find on the internet about the Monkees to us. Step 2 Fast reading
1.Read the passage quickly and tell us what the passage is about. 2.Try to find out the main idea of each paragraph. Para 1. Dreaming of being a famous musician or singer. Para.2 How musicians form bands. Para.3 How the Monkees got their start.
Para.4 How the Monkees become serious about the music business. Step 3 Careful reading
Read the passage carefully and finish the following tasks: Task 1.Answer some questions
Task 2. Read paragraphs1& 2 and fill in the form:
How do people get to form a band?
Task 3. Read paragraphs 3&4 and find out some information about the Monkees.
