By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1) master the new words and expressions about heroes; 2) understand conversations about heroes;
3) describe one’s hero and give reasons with adverbial clauses. Process and methods: Through communication and interactive practice, develop students’ listening and speaking abilities.

Show some pictures of the Rio Olympic champions and play a song. Purpose: to arouse students’ interest in the topic--Heroes. Step 2. Leading in(new words and expressions)
A guessing game: guess who my hero is and learn the new words. Purpose: arouse students’ interest in the main character—Deng Yaping and learn new words in sentences at the same time.
Step 3. Listening
Listen to a dialogue and choose the correct answer.
Purpose: to train students’ ability to listen for specific information. Step 4. Listen and read
Read the dialogue and complete the timeline—facts about Deng Yaping. Purpose: to help students understand a person’s life experiences in timeline.
Step 5. Watch and imitate.
Watch a flash and imitate, then role play the dialogue. Purpose: learn the pronunciation and tune and practise. Step 6. Talk about different heroes. Use so or because to talk about heroes.
Purpose: to help students be able to use so or because properly. Step 7. Pair work.
Work in pairs. Talk about heroes.
Purpose: to practise speaking and know what we should learn from heroes.
Step 8. Work in groups.
Talk abour heroes in group of four. Choose one to report. Purpose: to train students speaking ability. Step 9. Summary
Summarize what we have learnt in this class. Purpose: to go over what we have learnt. Step 10. Exercises. Do some exercises.
Purpose: to consolidate what we have learnt. Homework
• 1. Make a poster about your hero. • 2. Talk about heroes in English.
• 3. Learn from your hero and put their good qualities into practice. Blackboard-design
