1. 在Unit 1中學生已經學過有關電腦的詞匯以及如何使用電腦寫作業,在本課
的文本閱讀中學生需掌握使用電腦的相關詞匯和句型。
2. Unit 2的文本是有關三個家庭使用電腦的介紹,學生容易理解,但卻不容易
落實在寫作中,尤其在目前班級學生層次差距較大的情況下,使得如何讓不同層次的學生都寫出介紹電腦使用的短文成為難點。

b) The Ss use the expressions learnt from the text to write a passage about computer use in their own family.

revision
Warming-up song: Computer Game Addiction Bb: Module 7 COMUPTER (in the middle) 1. Lead-in: Do you like the song? The boy in the song has got a big problem. What is it? (He likes playing a lot of computer games. He is addicted to computer games.) When does he play games on the computer? (All day and all night.) Does he use the computer in a good way? (Any ideas are acceptable.) Today we are going to discuss about this question: When do you use a computer?
Bb: Unit 2 When do you use a computer?
By the end of this class, I hope you can write an email to help the boy in the song by telling him how you use the computers and what’s a better way of using them.
2. Revision: In Unit 1, we’ve learnt different parts of a computer and how to write our homework on the computer. Now let’s review what we learned last time.

Step 2 Vocabulary preparation (Pre-reading)
1. Excellent. I think it is easy for you to write homework with a computer. In your opinion, is it a good way or a bad way of using the computer? Bb: to write homework (up-right corner)
2. Actually, people can do a lot of other things on the computer. The boy in the song plays computer games.
Bb: to play games
What other things can people do with a computer? Let’s choose and say! Please use the given phrases to make a sentence like “we can do sth. on the computer.”.
Use the picture slides to show activities people do on a computer. (9 chances for each group to get 1 point) Collect the words they need to describe computer use:
goes on the Internet; see and talk to a friend; do shopping
online; check and send email; buy tickets; listen to music
To elicit words about computer use before reading.
Step 3 Scanning and Skimming (While-reading)
1. Next, in today’s reading text 3 people are talking about their computer use. Read the text quickly with the tape and answer these 3 questions.
Ask one student to read the WHO questions.
Play the sound clip and ask them to read the text and match the speakers with the questions. [Activity 1] 2. Ask the Ss to watch the part about Jack and answer the detailed question.
Write down their answers in full sentences in the worksheet.
Q1 Who use the computer at Jack’s home? Bb: Jack, Jack’s father, share
Q2 What does Jack’s father do on the computer? Bb: to talk to customers; to make travel plans
Explain about customers, share, plan etc.
Q3 When and for what does Jack use the computer? Bb: every Friday night

3. Ask the Ss to watch the part about Alice and answer the detailed question.
Write down their answers in full sentences in the worksheet.

4. Ask the Ss watch the part about Mike and answer the detailed question.
Write down their answers in full sentences in the worksheet.

1.Scan the text for the key words. 2. Skim the passage for specific information.

Step 4 Post-reading activities and preparation for writing
1. Ask them to work in pairs and fill out the summary passage in pairs. Explain about “planning” etc. 2. Ask the 3 questions to each other in pairs. (1) When and where do you use a computer? (2) What do you usually do with it? (3) If you play computer games, when and how long do you play it?
3. Write down the answer to the 4th question by themselves and call back a few good sentences.
Teach them to use the tips in their writing.(Worksheet tips)
Use the language learned in text and complete the sentence writing. To learn to summarize information in a form and learn to write the target language.
Step 5 Output Task
1 Suppose the boy in the song is Mike. You and Mike are on-line friends. Now you want to help Mike with his addiction problem. First, tell him how you use the computer. Then, try to give him some advice on a better way of using the computer. 2. The blackboard shows you how you can write about your computer use. You may write about who in your family uses the computer to do “what” or for “what”. You can also write about “when”, “where” and “why” you use the computer in that way.
3. Please try to use the phrases on the blackboard and the tips on your worksheet. Your answers in the previous tasks can also be used in the email. Pay attention to the unfinished sentence at the beginning of the email.
Complete the unfinished email in your worksheet. Pick at least 3 groups to report. Conclude some better ideas of using the computer.
Discuss in groups about how to write to Mike. To use the language in communicative writing task.
Step 7 Homework
Finish your writing on the worksheet and Tell him how you think we use the computer in a right way.
