Teaching aims:
1. To learn words :aunt, plane, ship, place, train 2. To learn sentence : Does he/she go to …by…? Yes, he/she does. No, he /she doesn’t.
3. To learn to conclude some aspects of introducing a person and describe it according to the mind map. Teaching importance and difficulties:
Importance: Learn the new words and sentence of this lesson. Difficulties: Learn how to describe a person according to the mind map.
Teaching aids: word cards, Seewo EasiNote 5 Teaching procedure: Step1:warming up
①Sing the song: My little Bicycle ②Free talk
Learn word: share bike.
(design intent: This song will help students relax and get ready for the new lesson.)
Step 2:Revision
①Review the words about transportation. ②Review sentence: How do you go to school?
(design intent: Review the words and sentences about vehicles to help students get enough input, so that to output in the latter task.) Step 3:Presentation
1.Listen ,watch ,think and answer questions. Q1:Who is she?
A1:She is Wang Tao’s aunt. Q2:Where is she from? A2:She is from Taiwan.
(design intent: These two questions are understandable and necessary for students ,after listening they can get the answers and have a main understanding of this lesson.)
2.Listen,watch ,think and choose.
Does she go to Taiwan by train ？ plane ship
(design intent: this step is to teach the new and important sentence. I set the choosing task to guide students to think. While checking the answers ,they will also learn about the new words.)
3.Ask and answer according to real situation.(choose one picture)
Use sentence: Does he/she go to…by…? Yes, he/she does. No, he/she doesn’t.
(design intent: this step is to practise the sentence pattern. Learning language in need is effective and the materials form the real life of students will create an atmosphere of language learning. So here I use pictures of teachers and classmates which the students are familiar with to design this task. )
4.Chant: To Shanghai
① Daddy goes to Shanghai by plane.
By plane ,by plane.
Daddy goes to Shanghai by plane. Daddy comes home by train. By train, by train.
Daddy comes home by train.
②Make your own chant. (change the name, the place and the transportation)
(design intent: After learning and practicing the new words and sentences ,a chant here is a suitable conclusion . Making a chant by students themselves is to cultivate their thinking ability and also a chance to test how much they have learned. )
5.Enjoy some pictures and a video about Taiwan. Q: What do you think of Taiwan?
A:Taiwan is a ______ place. (the probable answers: good, nice, great, beautiful, big and so on)
(design intent: A teacher should discover teaching material in their daily life. The video about Taiwan in Meipai attracts students’ eyes and serves suitably for the ideas of Taiwan. Here I encourage students to express their real feelings about Taiwan. )
6.Listen and imitate .
7.Retell according to the mind map.
(design intent: Here I help students to conclude how to describe a
person to help them think and find the rules ,thus they can use the key words to speak by themselves.) Step 4. Extension
Introduce a person you are familiar or like by drawing a mind map. (design intent:A mind map helps a lot in this lesson. Students learn how to introduce a person by draw their map rather than showed the mind map by teacher. This is a process of not only language learning but also learning ability and thinking.) Step 5. Homework
1. Do the Activity Book.
2. Read the text and try to recite it.
3. Continue to make a mind map to introduce the one you want to your family or classmates in English.
