figure out the main structure of the passage through the analysis of Problem-Solution pattern
know the value of cultural relics from the text to increase your cultural awareness.
describe the procedure of how to solve a problem.
express your own ideas on the given topics by critical thinking.
Lead-in: Memory competition.
Present some cultural relics in both China and Egypt. Students can know more about the topic and meanwhile, divide them into several groups to carry out a class competition as well as feeling the team work.
設(shè)計目的:引入本單元主題
-文化遺產(chǎn),并用競賽形式激發(fā)學(xué)生的興趣和動機。同時積累主題相關(guān)詞匯。

Problem—Solution Pattern 問題

*Put the four procedures in correct order.
設(shè)計目的:使學(xué)生了解問題解決型閱讀模式的基本結(jié)構(gòu),從而運用到以后類似文體的學(xué)習(xí)和練習(xí)。通過排序,小組討論,加深思考和對該理論的理解。
Discourse Analysis: para1:
What's the topic sentence of para. 1? What's the function of the first paragraph?
para2:
1.Why did the Egyptian government want to build a new dam?
2.Did people support the proposal? Why?
3. What did the government do to deal with the problem?
para 3:
What's the topic sentence ?
How did the committe help solve the problem?
para 4:
What's the topic sentence ?
How were the temples and other cultural sites saved?
para 5:
1.What's the result of the project?
2. In what way does the completion of the project inspire you?
設(shè)計目的:通過語篇分析,找到主題句和支撐細節(jié),并且總結(jié)出每一段所對應(yīng)的問題解決步驟,把理論運用到具體的文本閱讀中。通過一些問題的思考,加深對文本的理解。小組討論,團隊合作讓每個人都積極參與。
Group work: finish the fishbone and then retell the passage:
設(shè)計目的:通過魚骨圖的設(shè)計,上面串起時間的數(shù)字,下面串起來其他數(shù)字。學(xué)生可以通過時間軸來梳理各個事件發(fā)生的順序,從而達到復(fù)述文本的目的。同時,一些國家數(shù)量和花費金錢的數(shù)額更引出下面的批判性思考,這樣的
“興師動眾
”是否值得。從而引起學(xué)生對文物保護的重視。

After reading:
Watch a video about COVID-19, and share your feelings.
設(shè)計目的:通過視頻里面出現(xiàn)的世衛(wèi)組織專家演說,提到的一百多個國家傾力合作,以及沒有一個國家能獨善其身,讓學(xué)生加深合作意識的重要性。
