教材分析:
本單元以Cloning為話題,旨在通過單元教學,使學生了解克隆技術的優缺點,學會表達和支持個人觀點,能用所學的有關Cloning的詞匯去表述自己對這一新技術的觀點和看法。我要講的是Using Language “語言運用”部分的第二部分Listening and Speaking 聽說部分。這部分先讓學生聽完一段關于克隆是否對動物殘忍的對話后,首先交流聽力內容,然后展開討論,讓學生發表自己的看法。這項練習不但有利于提高學生的聽說能力,而且還能引發他們的思考,具有現實意義。 學情分析:
我所帶的班級的學生英語基礎不錯,學生的好奇心和學習接受能力比較強。此外,在近兩年的英語教學中師生之間配合越來越默契 學生養成良好的聽力和討論習慣,所以本堂課可以充分發揮學生自主性,把課堂大膽的還給學生,他們一定會給我們帶來驚喜的。
Teaching Goals (教學目標): Knowledge Goals (知識目標) :
1. Enable the students to show their opinions about the cloning. 2. Enable the students to know how to organize a debate
3. Enable the students to have a debate over the topic of cloning 4. Enable the students to write an article based on this debate. Ability Goals (能力目標) :
Enable the students to improve their listening abilities and master some listening skills Moral Goals (情感目標) :
Enable the students to deal with the problems with a dialectical point of view Teaching important points (教學重點):
1. Enable the students to show their opinions about the cloning. 2. Enable the students to know how to organize a debate
3. Enable the students to have a debate over the topic of cloning Teaching difficult points (教學難點):
1. How to improve the students’ listening ability.
2. How to make the students actively involved in the discussion and the debate. 3. How to teach them to deal with the problems with a dialectical point of view Teaching methods (教學方法): 1. Asking and answering method 2. Group work and discussion 3. A debate
Teaching aids (教學工具) :
1. A recorder, a projector and some slides 2. Multi-functional teaching equipment (CAI)
The design of writing on the blackboard (板書設計):
Group A Group B SUPPORT OPPOSE Teaching procedures(教學過程): Step I : Lead in (導入)
1. Introduce the teaching objectives.
2. Show the students the pictures of two films which are related to the cloning technology. 3. The definition of clone.
4. Show pictures of the cloned animals and ask the students questions to arouse their deep
thinking .
Is it right or reasonable to clone animals? Is it cruel ?
T: Let’s listen to a conversation between Rachael and Xiao Qing to see their ideas. Step II : Listening :
1. Listen to the conversation and tick the sentences that you hear. The sentence are on the
exercising part
2. Listen to the conversation again and this time tell students to focus on their different
ideas.
3. Teach some listening skills here :
1) Ask the students to write down some key words
2) Teach them to use some marks to symbolize some words and sentences 3) Enable the students learn how to use acronym(首字母縮略法) method. 4. Listen to the conversation again and fill in the chart on the book 5. Check the answers
Step III : Discussion and Debate 1. Transitional part :
T : Cloning technology is the most promising scientific breakthrough in the world ,but at the same time the disputes followed .
A question : What is your opinion ? Do you support the cloning or oppose to it ?
2. Divide the class into two groups based on their ideas . Group A is for those who are for
the cloning technology and Group B is for those who are against the cloning technology 3. Group Discussion :
1) The students are supposed to find as many arguments as possible.
2) The teacher offers a words bank on the screen. The words bank includes those words
related to the discussing topic.
4. Build two debate teams temporarily.
Let the students know how to build a debate team and how it works. 5 A Debate Show : Step IV. Conclusion:
Science and technology is a double-edged sword, so is cloning. It can bring us benefits and disaster as well. There is no doubt that cloning is a great achievement, but we have to be rational to use it. We can apply it to our medical system, clone organs to replace the bad ones, and do some experiments on animals. However, I strongly oppose to cloning human.Clones have no parents, but they have their own thoughts, because of it, the world will probably be in a mess.
Step V . My view :
Take the advantages and be responsible!
Step VI : Homework : Write a composition based on the debate Step VII. Reflection (反思:)
The students are interested in this topic and they are actively involved in the group discussion. What surprised me most is their performance in the debate . Their language is well organized and they are quite logical. Give students more chances and they may work wonders!
