3. call on people to take public transport or ride the shared bikes  
4. urge motorists to leave their cars out of the city and travel into the city center by means of public transport 
5. get tough with those breaking traffic rules 
6. raise/ arouse public awareness of obeying the traffic rules 
2. Ability goals  
Enable the students to write the letter giving suggestions by describing the current and putting forward the solutions to the problems 3. Learning ability goals  
Help the students to make use of proper tenses and expressions to convey their feelings and come up with the solutions to the problems Teaching difficult points 
Make good use of expressions in Module 2 to describe the causes of traffic problems and think of the approaches to the problems Teaching methods

                            Teaching procedures & ways  
Step 1: Ask the question “which cities are the top 3 congested cities in the world” to introduce the topic---traffic jam 
Step 2: Discussion (show some pictures as hints): 1. What are the causes of traffic jams? 
2. What solutions can we come up with to tackle the traffic problem? 
Step 3 ：Write a letter to the mayor proposing some suggestions to solve the current traffic problem. Make good use of useful expressions in Module 2 to give advice on how to solve the traffic problem. 1. Discuss: The outline of the letter 
Part1. the purpose of writing the letter Part2. present the current traffic problem Part3. solutions to the problem Part4. your expectation 2. Summarize:  
 expressions for writing a letter giving suggestions about traffic problems  solutions in two aspects (government, individual) Step 4 : Writing task 
Write a letter to the mayor giving suggestions on how to solve the current traffic problem (students finish it within 15 minutes) Step 5: Presentation (students read the third part) 
Present the third part: different solutions to the traffic problem. 
Step 6: Read the possible version, studying the proper coherence and some transitional words and sentences Step 7: Conclusion 
Public awareness of obeying the traffic rules should be raised to make traffic flow smoothly
