教學目標:
1) 語言知識(knowledge): a.語音(phonology):能基本讀出文章中的生詞
b.詞匯(vocabulary):能理解、內化、運用以下單詞及
短語functions; calculate, simplify, analytical, solve some mathematical problems, technological revolution artificial intelligence, applications.
c. Ss will be able to learn about the development of the
computers in terms of time, identity and function.
2) 語言技能(skills): a. 讀:通過快速閱讀及細節閱讀獲得相關信息且進行
skimming, scanning, further understanding等閱讀微技能訓練
b. 說:通過鼓勵學生自己創造新型電腦進行口頭表達 c. 寫:能在課后對口頭表達落實到筆頭,對課堂所學內容
有一個較好的輸出
3)學習策略:交際策略;認知策略;調控策略
4)情感態度:a.讓學生感受到古代電腦發明者的智慧和創造力 b.培養合作精神
5)文化意識: 幫助學生了解電腦的發展史
教學重點和難點:
1)Students will be able to learn about the development of the computer in terms of time, functions and identity
2)Students will be able to have a thorough understanding of the title.

教學過程:
Step1 課前準備
Before the class, a short video will be played. Actually, it is a part from the Lion King. 設計意圖:為在課堂上導入computer的話題做準備,同時為學生創造一個輕松的課堂氛圍。
Step2: Pre-reading
1)Ask students to talk about their opinion of the cartoon character Simba, which will
naturally lead to today’s topic---computer.
2) Students will be asked to speak about the computer’s daily functions. 設計意圖:通過對獅子王主人公辛巴的探討,自然的把從卡通人物引到本課的主題電腦;電腦是學生非常熟悉的物品,要求學生對其日常的功能進行探討,并交代詞匯function對下面的活動進行鋪墊。
3)Ask students to predict who I am in the passage?
設計意圖:對完成整篇閱讀后重新回到此問題進行鋪墊。
Step3 Fasting reading
1)Ask Ss to read the passage very quickly and find out the main idea of each paragraph.
2) Emphasize the skill of finding the main idea
3)Based on the main idea of each paragraph, students will be asked to
summarize the main idea of the whole passage.
設計意圖:培養學生快速閱讀、分析概括的能力,養成整體閱讀的習慣,即首先關注語篇的內容或結構并理解其大意。
Step4:Careful reading
Para1: 1)Read the first paragraph carefully and find out what happened in 1642,
1822, 1936 and since the 1970s. Ss will be asked to point out the name of the computer at that time as well as its function.
2) Ss will be asked to think about why computers became smarter even if the size of it became smaller
設計意圖:學生通過對這4個時間段的查找能自然的了解計算機的發展史,搞清楚在各個時間段它的另外一個身份及功能,這也是本堂課的重點。在這過程中能培養學生scanning能力,理解并掌握單詞functions, calculate, simplify, analytical, solve some mathematical problems,technological revolution artificial intelligence Para2& Para3: 1) Read these two paragraphs carefully and answer the questions
How did these changes become possible?
What new applications have been found for me?
Big challenge: Find out three different feelings mentioned in
para2 & para3
2)Ask Ss to answer why the computer became happy.
設計意圖:學生通過此環節可以了解計算機尺寸變小但腦力變強的原因及電腦在當今社會的應用;得出第二段及第三段計算機的另外身份也是本課的重難點所在,為總結全文及更好的回答who am I 做準備;聯系人類實際要互相合作及幫助才能生活的開心。在這過程中能培養學生scanning能力,理解并掌握單詞network,applications。
Step5: Summary of the passage
Ask Ss to answer the question “ who am I ” again.
設計意圖:對于這篇內容進行總結,更好的理解計算機的多重身份,并為下一環節做鋪墊。
Step 6 Post reading:
Introduce the new kind of computer iPad created by Steve Jobs’ Apple Corporation and then ask Ss to design a new kind of computer
設計意圖: 激發學生的創造力和想象力,培養學生的合作能力及口頭表達的能力
Step7:Summary and Homework
Encourage Ss to be creative again and assign the homework
設計意圖:能在課后對口頭表達落實到筆頭,有一個很好的輸出。
