The students are curious, active and fond of games. They enjoy learning in a relaxing atmosphere. They have learned English for some years, so they have the ability to learn by themselves. They like to practice what they have learned in a situation.
4重點(diǎn)難點(diǎn)
Students can understand the text, figure out the definition of happiness and retell the story.

5.1第一課時(shí) The Shirt of a Happy Man(Part1)

活動(dòng)1【導(dǎo)入】教學(xué)活動(dòng)
Step 1 Pre-reading
1. Warming-up
Enjoy a song and ask the students a question.
How does the song make you feel?
2. Lead-in
Ask the students to talk about two questions.
a. What can make you happy? b. What is happiness?
3. Guessing
Show a picture of a King and ask the students to guess whether the King is happy or not.

Step 2 While- reading
1.Fast reading
Ask the students to read the passage quickly and judge whether the king is happy or not.
2.Careful reading
Ask the students to find out what’s wrong with the king.
Ask the students to read the story and find out what the doctor said.
Ask the students to read the story carefully and find out who were called in to the palace and why they were unhappy.
Ask the students to find out who else was called to help the king and what he was told to do.
Step 4 Post-reading
1. Retelling
Retell the story with the students together.
Invite some students to retell the story alone.
2. Discussion
Ask the students to discuss two questions.
Can the top general finish the task in 3 days?
What kind of person would the general find?

Write a possible ending of the story.
