I. Teaching goals:
By the end of the lesson, the Ss should be able to 1. fill in an application form.
2. organize useful information for an application letter 3. enhance the passion for loving and helping rare birds.

1. Students can illustrate the information the information of the application letter. 2. Students can be activated to share their writing skills.

IV. Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Pre-learning
Check students’ personal information. (an application form)
Teacher introduces herself to the students to present some useful expressions. Then ask students to introduce themselves with those sentences.
T: First, let me introduce myself.① I was born on Nov.1st, 1984. ②I am a teacher at Yancheng Middle School. ③I am interested in watching different animals and I’m also a member of the Birdwatching Society. Would you please introduce yourselves?
(設計意圖:預學檢測學生對Application form中個人信息的填寫和掌握) 反思:未能檢查到班級所有學生。
Step 2 While-learning
1. Show a video about Birdwatching Society
1.How are the birds?
2. How can we help the birds?3. Who often protects the birds?
There were more than 1,600,000kindsof birds in the world. But now only 9000left. People keep cutting down the forests and they haveno whereto live. If we donot help, soon there will be no birds in the world.
Teacher shows a video and ask some questions: 1) How are the birds? 2) How can we help the birds? 3) Who often help the birds?
(設計意圖:1.通過看視頻,和擴展的文字材料,喚起學生對新話題的興趣。 2.就第二個問題互動討論和擴展生成更多保護鳥類的具體措施,為下一步的寫作提供充足的內容。 3.從第三個問題激發學生保護鳥類的積極性從而自然導入下一內容。) 2. Listen to Amy’s application letter and answer.
(設計意圖:聽取信息,由預學檢查的互動,生成推薦信中Amy個人信息。由短語結構生成完整的句型。)
反思:可以用自己的語言概括信息,用一段文字介紹Amy.

Step 4 Evaluating
Post--writing
Find out some good sentences.
Find out some mistakes(spelling, tense, grammar…)
1. Teacher’s Evaluation.
Teacher evaluates the 2 students’ letters on the blackboard to give an example to the students.
T: Now, let’s see their letters. They divided the letter into paragraphs. They used simple present tense. I think they wrote some beautiful sentences. Look! They added proper transitional word! Good job! Do you know how to evaluate a letter? Why not evaluate your partner’s letter?
2. (Group work)Work in groups to evaluate each other’s letters. 3. Enjoy some good writings.
Step 5 Summary
Human and the wildlife can live in peace!
T: Thanks for your letter! Thanks for your kindness! With your help, I think human and the wild animals can live peacefully in the world!
