Period 1 Comic strips & Welcome to the unit
I. Analysis of the teaching materials
This is the first period of Unit 5. It is about the topic of wild animals. Students are familiar with the topic and interested about it. In this period, they can learn more about wild animals. Meanwhile, they will realize that animals are our friends. We should try our best to protect them.
II. Analysis of the students
Although students are familiar with this topic, it is still difficult to grasp the new words and sentence structures. At the same time, it is necessary for junior students improve listening and speaking abilities. Therefore, I will try my best to encourage students to get the kinds of skills by doing some activities.
III. Teaching aims 1. Knowledge aims:
(1) Students are able to grasp the new words about wild animals.
(2) Students are able to use the new sentence structures to talk about wild animals. 2. Ability aims:
(1) Students are able to talk about their favourite animals.

Step 1 Lead-in
1. Play some sounds of animals and let students guess the names of them, then let students realize they are "Home animals".
2. Play a short video about wild animals and let students know these animals live in the wild so they are "Wild animals".
3. Lead in the topic --- "wild animals"naturally.
(設計意圖:先通過家養小動物的聲音,吸引學生的注意力;然后播放一段關于野生動物的視頻,自然導入本課主題---野生動物。)
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1. You see, you learn! (New words)
Cover some parts of wild animals and let students guess the names to teach the newwords.
2. You guess, you improve!(Riddles)
Present some riddles about these wild animals to consolidate the names of wild animals.
3. You play, you enjoy!(Colourful hats)
Students wear hats that have different names of wild animals on it to play an interesting game to check the new words.
4. You listen, you talk! (New sentence structures) (1) Listen to the tape and answer the questions. a. What wild animals does Kitty like best?
b. What's Simon's favourite wild animals? c. Why does Simon like lions best?
d. What wild animals do Millie and Peter like best? (2) Emphasis the sentence structures
a. What wild animal do you like best? I like...best.
b. What's your favourite wild animal? My favourite animal is... (3) Role play the conversations by groups.
5. You interview, you complete!(Use what you have learnt)
Interview your group members about their favourite animals and the reasons. Then complete the report.

2. Watch a short video about animals in danger. And think about "Do you think we should have pity on wild animals?" 3.Brainstorming

(設計意圖:本部分為情感升華部分,設計活動為活動6:你觀看你思考。首先通過聽讀漫畫中兩只小狗的對話,猜測重點短語“have pity on”的詞義。再通過一段“動物與人”的視頻激活學生的思想,喚起他們保護野生動物的意識。并通過頭腦風暴的活動,讓學生從不同角度提出保護野生動物的途徑和方法。)

1. Personal work:Draw a picture of your favourite and describe it and why you like it best.
(設計意圖:本項作業要求學生獨立完全,主要目的是讓學生運用所學知識輸出一遍小作文。并畫出你最喜歡的動物,在增加作業趣味性的同時,也為下一項作業做了鋪墊。)
2. Work in groups to design a leaflet(傳單) to tell people protect wild animals. Then hand out the leaflets in your school and neighbourhood.
