教學內容 分析
The topic of this unit is “Astronomy”, involving how life began on the earth, a trip to the moon and the explorations made by scientists and astronauts. In this lesson, we deal with “listening and speaking” parts in “Using Language II”. By talking about what the solar system is composed of, how far the planets are from the sun respectively and what features these planets have, students’ background knowledge will be activated, their interest in astronomy will be boosted and thus they will be fully involved in the classroom activities. Then by listening to an interview with Yang Liwei, students will be able to have a far better picture of what astronauts really experienced in space and what qualifications they have for such a special career. Students will also be able to share what they can learn from \Yang Liwei and what preparations they need to make if they were given a chance to go to space. With a much clearer picture of space and adequate input of target language, they will discuss which planet they would like to go if they had a chance to explore the solar system, what preparations they would make for their trips and what they would do there.
學情分析
Students in this class are in the second term of their first year in senior high. After half a year’ s study in high school, the students have acquired some learning strategies with a bit widened vision and a enlarged vocabulary, and thus they are more active in thinking and sharing ideas with their classmates. However, as students of arts, their knowledge of aerospace is relatively limited although they do show a keen interest in the topic of astronomy. Besides, they still need teacher’s guidance in the course of teaching on the listening and speaking strategies as well as the useful expressions and sentence patterns of describing the planets in the solar system and making a group plan for a space trip.

1.To learn and master the words and phrases: astronomy, solar system, planet, comet, manned spaceship, astronaut, explore, launch, lift off.
2.To learn to adopt some useful expressions to talk about planets in the solar system and a space exploration:

1. To learn about Yang Liwei’s space experience and some basic information about him by listening to a journalist’s interview with Yang;

The core literacy of English includes language ability, thinking quality, cultural awareness and learning ability, among which the thinking quality plays a vital part. Improving the students' thinking quality has become the goal in the new round of curriculum reform, of which logic critical and innovative thinking ability is the key.
Therefore, in English teaching, teachers should pay attention to the development of students' thinking quality and promote the development of students' thinking quality by designing inspiring English learning activities suited to them. In this lesson, the teacher activates the students' knowledge and helps the students build a new knowledge structure through a series of interrelated integration of language, thinking and strategies, such as information acquisition, combing and integration, internalization, analysis, comparison, appreciation and evaluation, to enable students to improve their language ability, quality of thinking, accomplishment in science and culture, and emotions involved in the English learning.
