1. Knowledge aim: To help the students review the relative pronouns ,including which, who ,that, whom, where, when, why and have a clear idea of the concept of the grammar item. 2. Ability aim: To help the students practice the skills at describing the people and further develop the ability in communication especially when the Attributive Clause is used.
3. Moral aim: To help the students form the habit of independent learning and become willing to cooperate with the members in the group activity. Ⅱ. Teaching Key and difficult Points
1. Distinguish the relative pronouns and relative adverbs who, whom, that, which, whose, when, where.

V. Teaching Procedures Step 1. Lead-in
(1)By showing students a song “The rose” including attributive clauses, the teacher presents the topic ---the Attributive Clause, and lets students point out the antecedents and Attributive Clauses. (2)Present two pictures that are about the most popular TV series to lead the relative pronouns and adverbs by showing the following sentences. (1) This is the TV series which I have seen recently. (2) This is a picture that is taken from the TV series. (3) This is the TV series whose name is Sanshengsanshi.
(4)The man and the woman whom you see in the picture are Ye hua and Bai Qian.
(5) Bai Qian and Ye Hua are the heroine and the hero who loved each other very much in the film . (6)This is the place where the TV series was shot(拍攝).
(7)The TV series was shot in the season when the weather is warm.
(8)The reason why the TV series is so popular is that the scenery is very beautiful.

After reviewing the relative words , ask students to join the sentences using attributive clauses and choose the proper relative words on the screen. Step 2Thinking
Give students several minutes to read the following key and difficult points of the Attributive Clause and then finish the exercises by themselves. In the meanwhile, ask several students to do the exercises on the blackboard.
1. The differences between that and which. 下列幾種情況只用that:
(1)被修飾的先行詞為不定代詞或被不定代詞修飾,如all,something,everything, anything, nothing, none, the one等。
(2)先行詞是最高級/序數詞或被最高級/序數詞修飾時。 (3)先行詞中既有人又有物時。
(4)先行詞被the only, any, few, little, the very等詞修飾時。 (5)主句中已經有了which/who時。 下列幾種情況只用which: (1)在非限制性定語從句中。
(2)在定語從句中做介詞的賓語時,且介詞位于關系代詞前。
(3)如果有兩個定語從句,其中前一個的關系代詞用that的話,后一個宜用which。 2. as的用法
as引導限制性定語從句先行詞前常被such, the same, so, as 修飾,即構成such…as , the same …as, so…as 結構。as在定語從句中應充當成分如:主語、賓語或表語。
as 與which引導非限制性定語從句都能指代整句內容,但定語從句位于句首時,只能用 as, 意為“正如、恰如”。

(1)“介詞+關系代詞”引導定語從句時,關系代詞常用which(指物)或whom(指人),即介詞+which/which。

In the dark street, there wasn’t a single person to whom she could turn. (2)關系代詞前介詞的確定
依據定語從句中動詞所需的某種習慣搭配來確定。
I bought a great many books, on which I spent all my money that I saved. 依據先行詞的某種習慣搭配來確定。
I will never forget the time during which I spent my childhood in the country. 根據所表達的意思來確定。
The colorless gas without which we can’t live is called oxygen. 4. way后面的定語從句
如果先行詞way后面的定語從句中缺少主語或賓語,則用that或which。如果定語從句中缺少方式狀語,則用in which ,that或省略。
The way that / which / 不填he explained to us was quite simple.
The way that / in which /不填 he explained the sentence to us was not difficult to understand. 5. 定語從句中的主謂一致
當引導定語從句中的關系代詞在從句中作主語時,那么定語從句中的謂語動詞在人稱、數的方面,應該與先行詞保持一致。

若先行詞在定語從句中作主語、賓語用which、that;若是作狀語,才用when、where、why。 對比:Nobody believed the reason which /that he put forward in the meeting. The reason why / for which he didn't want to attend the meeting is still unknown. 7. 定語從句與其他從句的區別 (1)定語從句與強調句的判斷
It was in the small house which / that was built with stones by his father that he spent his child. 突破指南:在定語從句與強調句的結合中,“先行詞+定語從句”多為強調句中的被強調部分.第一空的設置多是對定語從句的考查,第二空多為強調句型。 (2)定語從句與并列句的混淆 (標點符號和連詞是關鍵) Mr White has three sons, all of whom are brave.(定語從句) Mr White has three sons, and all of them are brave.(并列句) Mr White has three sons; all of them are brave.(并列句) Mr White has three sons, all of them brave.(獨立主格結構) (3)定語從句與同位語從句的混淆
I made a promise that if anyone set me free I would make him very rich.(同位語從句) The mother made a promise which / that pleased all her children .(定語從句) (4)介詞+which引導的定語從句和介詞后的賓語從句的混淆。 I lived in what you call “Ancient Greece”.(B2U2賓語從句) The school in which he once studied is famous.(定語從句) (5) where 引導的定語從句和地點狀語從句的混淆
