教學目標
1. 認知目標:
1)讓學生閱讀一段來自百科全書的文字,了解關于恐龍的基本情況,能通過口語操練對課文進行延伸和拓展。
2) 掌握一些常用詞組,如:more than; some…others; as…as; die out; learn about。
能力發展目標:
1)能夠在聽、說、讀、寫等語言綜合實踐活動中運用本課所學的重點詞匯、句型與語法。
2)讓學生閱讀百科全書中的有關科普知識的內容,了解什么是百科全書,怎樣通過百科全書去查找資料,從而激發他們獲取知識的熱情。
3)通過指導學生在模擬交際中運用所學的知識,培養學生探究學習、合作學習、自主學習的能力。
2學情分析
本課的材料選取上看,是學生們比較感興趣的恐龍,有利于激發他們對本課學習的興趣,有利于開展本課的各項聽、說、讀、寫任務。通過初中近三個月的學習,學生已具備一定的閱讀理解能力,掌握一些閱讀理解的策略與技巧,借助本課的閱讀理解活動進一步鞏固、運用已學的策略與技巧,以提高學生的閱讀理解能力。
3重點難點
重點: 讓學生閱讀百科全書中的有關科普知識的內容,了解什么是百科全書,怎樣通過百科全書去查找資料,從而激發他們獲取知識的熱情。
難點: 掌握一些閱讀理解的策略與技巧,借助本課的閱讀理解活動進一步鞏固、運用已學的策略與技巧,以提高學生的閱讀理解能力。

4.1第一學時
4.1.1教學活動
活動1【導入】Warming up（Pre－reading）
1. Display a cartoon flash on this topic.
2. Present the encyclopedia.
Brainstorm around the topic of encyclopedias.
[Aim] To prepare the students for what they are going to read.
3. To get students to predict what will happen in the passage through classroom discussion.
[Aim] To train the students to use the title, the picture and their prior knowledge to anticipate the content of the text.
活動2【講授】While－reading
1. To get students to scan the text to find out general information on dinosaurs of the text.
[Aim] To train students to scan over a text quickly in order to locate specific information.
2. To introduce the passage from the encyclopedia to the students.
3. To get students to listen and skim the text to identify the general ideas of each part of the text.
4.To get students to guess the explanation of the new words according to the context. (gentle, meat)
[Aim] To train the students to skim through a text and help them to identify and think about the key words and ideas in the text.
5.To ask students some questions about the details of the story.
[Aim] To help students to reach a detailed understanding of the text.
6. To get students to complete an article of rewriting of text.
[Aim] To help the students to have the further understanding of the text.
活動3【活動】Post－reading
1. To get students to express their own opinions about it according to their understanding.
[Aim] To train the students to judge why all the dinosaurs died out suddenly.
2. To get students to think over and discuss what they learnt according to the text.
[Aim] To emphasize the importance of protecting the environmen.
3. To summarize the main points of the passage.
[Aim] To train the students to identify what they learnt this lesson.
活動4【作業】Assignment
To surf the Internet or find some information in the encyclopedia and write a composition about dinosaurs. ( about 60 words)
[Aim] To train the students to figure out their understanding of the text by looking for more information on the encyclopedia
