Material: Unit 8 Topic 1 We will have a class fashion show. Section A Type of lesson; listening and speaking Teaching aids: pictures, video, word cards
Contents:
1. Main vocabulary: scarf, handbag, blouse, smooth, costume, silk, cotton, fashion, fashion show
2. Main phrases: so…that…
Objectives:
1. Instructional objectives
1) language knowledge:
By the end of the class, all the students will know what the new words and phrases mean in Chinese and 90% of them will be able to use the main structures to make sentence.
2) language skill
During the class,
A. students would be able to use the words of clothes in real life
and know how to shopping in English;
B. student’s’ abilities of listening, speaking, and writing will be
developed;
C. students’ abilities of communication will be developed.
2. Educational objectives
1) Students will learn how to work together actively and train their spirits of
team-work.
2) Students should appreciate their life and learn to care about others.
Focal points:
1) Learn the words of clothes;
2) Review the structure: so…that….
Difficult points:
Use the structure‘so…that…’ correctly.
Procedures and time allotment (40mins)
Stage 1Getting students ready for learning (1 mins)
Greetings
Stage 2 Warming up (3 mins) Watch a fashion show.
Lead in the topic ‘fashion show’.
Stage 3 Pre-listening (7 mins) Vocabulary presentation and practice
Task 1:What’s it?
Use the pictures from the video (fashion show) to help Ss review
the words of clothes and present the new words (sunglasses, blouse, handbag, and scarf).
Task 2:How does it feel?
Invite two students to be the models and let them put on the scarves. Then let them touch the scarves and teach ‘smooth’, ‘cotton’, ‘silk’.
Task 3:Cotton or silk?
Use two more pictures to practice the new words ‘blouse’, ‘cotton’, ‘silk’, smooth’. Task 4: What’s it?
Use a picture of Luhan to teach the new words ‘costume’. Use a picture of Maria to practice ‘costume’.
Stage 4 While-listening (10mins)
Step 1 Listening
Task 1: Listen to 1a and circle True or False. Task 2: Check answers.
If the answer is ‘False’, let the Ss find why it’s false to make sure that Ss really understand the listening text..
Step 2:Key point
Task 1 Read 1a aloud and answer the questions.
Let Ss be familiar with the text and review the key point.
Task 2: 1cWork in groups and fill in the blanks with 'so...that...'.
Let Ss finish 1c to practice the structure‘so…that…’.
Stage 5 Post-listening, (16mins)
Step 1Practice 1a
Task 1: Enjoy the video.
Let Ss watch the video and pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
Task 2: Role-play game.
Let Ss play a role-play game. Boys play Jane’s part and girls play Maria’s part. After that, let’s the student have a change to stimulate the Ss to read the text.
Step 2 Project(To practice the new words and structure. Let Ss connect
English to their real life.) Task Make conversations.
Let Ss work in groups or pairs to make conversations.
Stage 6 Conclusion (3 mins)
