一、教學目標:

1) 能掌握以下單詞: host, study, state, the United States, American, dragon, young, race, say, other, children, miss, wish, delicious 2) 能掌握以下句型: ① —What time is it in Beijing? —It's eight o'clock in the morning.
② —It's 9:00 a.m. and Zhu Hui's family are at home.
③ —Zhu Hui misses his family and wishes to have his mom's delicious zongzi. 2. 情感態度價值觀目標:
提高學生的觀察能力和判斷能力,激發他們對學習英語的興趣和熱情。在接近生活常態的交際中能樂于模仿,敢于開口,積極參與,主動請教。了解中西方文化的不同,具有世界觀念,了解其他的國家的文化。熱愛本民族的文化,樹立民族自信心和自豪感。 二、教學重難點 1. 教學重點:
1) 掌握本課出現的生詞及表達方式。
2) 進一步練習運用現在進行時態的句子來描述他人在做的事情。 3) 通過聽、說、讀的練習,提高學生們的綜合運用能力。 2. 教學難點
閱讀短文,獲得相關信息,完成相關任務。 三、教學過程
Ⅰ. Warming- up and revision 1. Greet Ss and introduce myself.
2. Review the knowledge on the present progressive tense. Play a guessing game .
Ⅱ. Pair work 2a
1. T: Show some pictures on the big screen. Present different times in different cities. 2. Give Ss some time to practice the similar conversations in pairs. —What time is it in Beijing? —It's eight o'clock in the morning. Ⅲ. Reading 2b Pre-reading
1. Show some photos about the Dragon Boat Festival and zongzi. Talk about the customs of this festival with Ss.
2. Present some new words and expressions in the article. While-reading 1. Fast Reading
Read the article and answer the two questions.
① Why are Zhu Hui's family watching boat race and making zongzi? ② Does Zhu Hui like his host family? What does he think about his
home in China?
Ss read the article quickly and find the answers to the two questions. Check the answers with the class. 2. Careful Reading
Read the article again. What are these people doing now? Then fill in the chart below. Places Shenzhen Time

Ss read the article and fill in the blanks. Then check the answers with the class. After-reading
Work on 2c .Now let's look at the chart in 2c. You should match the verbs in column A with the words in column B. Ⅳ.Brainstorm
Give Ss a few minutes to look through the article. Then use the phrases in 2c to say sentences according to the TV report without books. See who is the best. Make sure Ss know what to do. Ⅴ.Extension
Have Ss make up a conversation between Zhu Hui and his mom.Talk about what people in two families are doing now. Ⅵ. Summary
