Teaching objectives
By the end of this class, students will be able to:

  2. Analyze the challenges or problems of the development of technology logically.

  2. Be aware of the responsibility of building a brighter future

  1. Make a sensible prediction through bold imagination and critical thinking.
  2. Be curious about the development of technology and envision the future life.
Teaching key points:
  1. After listening to an interview, students can gain key information of the interview.
  2. Grasp some useful expressions of making predictions.
  3. Make an interview based on what they learnt from this lesson.
Teaching difficult points:
  1. Make an interview based on what they learnt from this lesson.
  2. Make a sensible prediction through bold imagination and critical thinking.
  3. Inspire students to make an effort to achieve their predictions.

Teaching Procedures
Step 1. Warming-up
1.Give a brief self-introduction to students.
2. Establish a situation:
Answer the voice call of my friend, Amy, who sent me a video about her life full of technology and told us that her company is recruiting. 
Lead students to participate in recruitment and learn about the requirements of application.
Purpose:
1. To establish a situation to arouse students’ interest.
2. To stimulate students’ curiosity about the development of technology and the future life.
Step 2. Pre-listening : Knowledge Test

Purpose:
Introduce basic vocabulary necessary for the listening activity and activate students’ prior knowledge about the topics that will be covered.
Step 3. While-listeningCapability Test
Activity 1:
1. Let students listen to the radio interview with Dr Han and Vincent Black giving their predictions about the future and finish the multiple choices.

Give students a listening tip. Remind them to focus on the use of the future tense and words like predict, prediction and forecast.
Activity 2:
1. Listen again to get the information about future challenges or problems and future technology or solutions that the two experts have mentioned. Listen and understand how these things change our lives.

2.lead students to comb the structure of the interview.
Purpose:
1. Practice listening for predictions through a natural       conversation in English about the future.
2. Stress the impact the development of technology has on future.
3. Make a preparation for the following oral output.
Step 4. Post-listening: Career Planning
Activity1:
 Students will be asked to think about and write down their predictions about future technology according to the given information in the chart.

Activity2:
The teacher interviews one of the students about his or her future occupation and his or her predictions of the problems that the technology will bring and the solutions to them. 
Purpose:
Through the demonstration, the teacher enables the students to have a better understanding of the framework of the interview, understand that the host obtains more information related to the topic through the way of questioning, and apply it in the follow-up self-edited interview.
Activity3:
Students will be asked to make an interview in pairs about their jobs and predictions. They can refer to the useful expressions and the occupations. And then some of them will be invited to present their interview. After that, some of the remaining students will be invited to talk about their own opinions and comments on the predictions mentioned in the interview, and open up their own minds.

Purpose:
By creating an interview, students can make comprehensive use of what they have learned in this class. In the process of input and output, they can consolidate the knowledge of this class and show their creativity and imagination. Meanwhile  students' critical thinking can be strengthened.
Step5 Summary
The teacher leads the students to think about the opportunities and challenges that technology will bring, and what we should do about it. Work with the students to conclude that we should make good use of technology and find a balance between opportunities and challenges. Take responsibility for building a better future.
Purpose:
Seeing the opportunities and challenges brought by the development of science and technology to human life, they have full confidence in the future development of science and technology and society, and from now on, they will use their own practical actions to make the predictions come true and make human life better.
Step6 Assignment
You are expected to make a speech for the inauguration ceremony.
