Watch a video and tell a story named “ The boy and the apple tree”.
A long time ago, there was a big tree. She loved a boy.
The boy loved to climb the tree , ate apples and played around it every day. He loved the tree. The tree was very happy.
Time went by. The boy grew up, but the tree felt lonely. One day, the boy came back. Come and play with me.
I’m no long a kid. I don’t play around a tree anymore. I need money to buy toys. Can you give me some money?
Boy, I don’t have money ,but you can sell all my apples and so you’ll have money. The boy grabbed all the apples and left happily.
The tree was happy.
Several years later, a boy who turned into a man returned .The tree was excited , come and play with me.
I don’t have time to play with you. I need money to build a house.
Can you help me?
You can chop off my branches to build a house The boy chopped off all the branches and left quickly. The tree felt not only happy but also sad.
A hot summer day, the man turned . The tree was delighted. I want to sail to relax myself. I need a boat Cut my trunk to build your boat.
The man cut the trunk , went sailing and never showed for a long time.
The man returned after many years. My boy I have nothing for you, but the old root.
I need nothing. The root is the best place to lean on and rest. The man sat down. The tree was really happy and smiled with tears. Step 3. Before reading
(1)Let’s listen to the poem and enjoy the beauty of the poem. (2)You will have five minutes to read the poem and feel the love between the writer and mom.
(3)Ask some students to read the poem . Step 4. While reading
(1)The poem is divided into three parts.
Part 1. When the writer was a tiny baby, mom’s love was warm. Part2. When the writer was seven, nine and a teen, mom was strict.
part3. When he is an adult, he thinks mom’s love is the best. (2)Discuss some questions in groups. Part 1
●What did mom do when the writer was a tiny baby?
She sang to him and stayed by his side. She gave him food and warm arms to sleep in. She made sure he was safe and kept him from danger. She gave him a hug and lifted him up.
●How do you think a baby feels when he sleeps in his mom's arms?
The baby must be warm, safe ,happy . He feels mom’s love to him. Part 2
●How was the relationship between the writer and his mom? It was terrible. He often talked back to his mom. ●Why did the writer talk back?
Because he was not allowed to eat ice-cream, watch scary movies or watch TV.
●Why did the writer say " I'm not a boy?"
Because he thought he had grown up. He should be allowed to do anything he liked. Part 3
●Why did the writer regret when he grew up?
Because he understood mom's love. The writer regret talking back ,
not listening to his mom.
●After reading the whole poem, can you tell me the meaning of " Mom knows best"?
Mom is best for a child , even though the child disagrees with mom. Step 5. After reading (1)Activities
When I was a child, I had different ideas with my mom. But after becoming a mom, I know the real meaning of mother. M-is for the million things she gave me. O-means only that she is growing old. T-is for the tears she shed to save me. H-is for her heart of purest gold. E-is for her eyes with love-light shining.
R-means right , and right she will always be. Put them together they spell mother.
I believe in the process of your growth. You must feel your mom’s love.

在英語教學和學習中,閱讀占據著相當重要的地位。閱讀不僅能幫助學生獲取知識、豐富語言文化知識,還能促進聽、說、讀、寫等其他語言積極發展;而且,閱讀在培養學生的思維能力、分析能力和理解能力等方面有著不可替代的作用。
所授課是九年級Unit7 Section A 3a Mom Knows Best, 這是一首詩歌體裁的文章。通過不同的教學環節讓學生感受詩的美和母愛的偉大。現對教學設計進行反思。
1、多媒體信息技術具有集聲、像、動畫、文字于一體的多種信息傳輸功能,激發了學生的學習動機,提高了學生的學習和課堂效率。
2、通過視頻、故事The Boy and The Apple Tree進行導入,引導學生預測閱讀內容,激發學生閱讀興趣。
3、在教學的過程中,學生通過欣賞詩、讀詩、分析詩和理解詩感受英語詩歌的魅力。先讓學生從整體把了解詩歌的內容,再劃分段落概括總結,最后通過設置問題讓學生正確理解詩歌。
在設置問題時,提問設計層層遞進,逐級攀登,以完成教學任務。在對每一部分進行分析時,先是設計文章細節問題。如:What did your mother do when the writer was a tiny baby?。再設置通過閱讀分析后得出答案的問題,培養學生分析問題的能力和說的能力。如:After reading the whole poem ,can you tell me the meaning of “Mom Knows Best?。教學中也設計了與學生現實生活、親身感受密
切相關的問題。如:How do you think a baby sleeps in mom’s arms?。
4、情感態度價值觀教育貫穿于各個教學環節。視頻故事的導入、詩歌的分析及講解、歌曲的賞析讓學生感受母愛的溫暖和偉大。通過對本課的學習,讓學生更加愛父母,懂得感恩。
5、在本節閱讀課中,聽、說、讀、寫能力的訓練都有所體現。但是,老師并沒有對詩歌的進行示范性朗讀。學生朗讀詩歌不夠熟練,應給予更多的時間讓學生朗讀。在讓學生熟練朗讀詩歌的同時,也要注意情感的表達。
在以后的教學中,我會不斷反思,改進不足。讓學生每一節課都有收獲,不但是知識的收獲,更是精神上了收獲。
